I really like the ports feature that has been added and appreciate all of the hard work that many people have done to make NUMEROUS applications available in this method. It saves non-programmers like myself countless hours and lots of frustration and gives access to a host of programs that we would otherwise not be able to use. In working with the ports collection and installing FreeBSD on new machines I have noticed that an increasingly large number of ports are of foreign language versions of software. The ports collection takes up lots of disk space (ok, not TONS, but enough) and takes FOREVER to install. Therefore, my question: Has it been a considered course of action to have multiple ports collections? I would suggest one for all of the English ports, one for the Japanese ports, one for the Korean ports, etc.. I think this would be an easy thing to accomplish given your current install procedure and would make the install time less for all people since they would only have to install the ports for languages that they are using. Just a thought. -- Timothy M.
