Just wanted to add, I did the same thing on i386 (i.e. rm -rf /usr/obj/* then a full world and kernel). By building and installing the linker at /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/binutils/ld, I was up and running again. Before that, I received the same failures Sean is seeing when trying to link anything.
