Monitor: Dell M781p (c)May 2000 Size: 17" Optimal: 1024x768 @ 85 Hz PixelPitch: 25mm hscan: 30-85 kHz (supposedly) vscan: 50-160 kHz (supposedly; the back says 60-50 Hz?) Videocard: ATI All-in-Wonder 16mb AGP Driver: r128 (ati?) Dmesg stuff: pci1: at 5.0 irq 10 ums0: Logitech USB Receiver, rev 1.10/9.00, addr 3, iclass 3/1 ums0: 5 buttons and Z dir. My mouse works fine in console. I set it to /dev/sysmouse for X. By the way, "moused: unable to open /dev/ums0: Device busy" -- quite all right with me, my mouse still works fine. atkbdc0: at port 0x60,0x64 on isa0 atkbd0: flags 0x1 irq 1 on atkbdc0 kbd0 at atkbd0 I have tried with and without changing XF86Config.new from "keyboard" to "atkbd" - neither works. Or should it be changed to atkbd0? vga0: at port 0x3c0-0x3df iomem 0xa0000-0xbffff on isa0 sc0: at flags 0x100 on isa0 Is this why I cannot run the module "rain_saver.ko?" Dmesg -a shows the following: "Configuring syscons: blanktime screensaver rain_saver: the console does not support M_VGA_CG320 module_register_init: MOD_LOAD (rain_saver, c23d6728, 0) error 19" Symptoms: [!] When I first run `XFree86 -configure` the only error it reports is the mouse (which I can fix by editing XF86Config.new). However, when I attempt to run X (or `XFree86 -xf86config ~/XF86Config.new`), the screen goes blank, makes a quiet crackly-go-to-sleep-or-standby noise, and on most occasions the system does not respond to C-A-BS to abort the server requiring a hard-reset *ouch*. Can anyone help me figure this out? I'm at my wit's end!
