I don't have the exact model but I guess it is a 2060S. Sympthoms : reading the table of content is satisfactory : 370 [21:11] roberto@keltia:/sources/sound> tar tv -rw-r--r-- regnauld/bin 2485966 Jun 20 20:26 1995 condat_france_culture.au.gz Then trying to extract the file yields the following result : 372 [21:13] roberto@keltia:/sources/sound> tar xv tar: read error on /dev/rst0 : Input/output error 373 [21:13] roberto@keltia:/sources/sound> tar xv tar: read error on /dev/rst0 : Input/output error and the following messages appear in syslog : st0(bt0:4:0): ILLEGAL REQUEST field replaceable unit: 20 st0: Cannot set selected modest0: oops not queued st0(bt0:4:0): ILLEGAL REQUEST field replaceable unit: 20 st0: Cannot set selected modest0: oops not queued Getting the tape out of the drive and back is satisfactory : 374 [21:15] roberto@keltia:/sources/sound> tar xv condat_france_culture.au.gz but trying to reread the tape doesn't work : 375 [21:18] roberto@keltia:/sources/sound> tar tv tar: read error on /dev/rst0 : Input/output error To resume, dealing with 60 MB works the first time (on /dev/rst0) but not afterward. When dealing with multiple filesets per tape, it also fails unless one use the /dev/nrst0 (I know I should use it but I typed /dev/rst0 by mistake and the problem first appeared). -- Ollivier ROBERT -=- The daemon is FREE! -=- roberto@keltia.frmug.fr.net FreeBSD keltia 2.0-BUILT-19950618 #3: Sun Jun 18 00:08:36 MET DST 1995
