This sounds nice but you can get bitten when a change in (eg) /etc/defaults/rc.conf means that you need to change your /etc/rc.conf to compensate. I don't want to start a thread on whether or not this is a good idea. It _has_ occurred (eg changes to inetd and sendmail) and will probably occur again.
