The install went perfect only after this is has trouble during the boot. I have a Pentium 60 MHz with 32M of memory and 96M of swap. I had FreeBSD on this computer before and there where no problem until the new ata kernel. (FreeBSD 4.5+). I read something for a workaround for ata cdrom players. Is there something like this i can try for other ata hardware? I included the entire bootup text. > CPU: Pentium/P5 60Mhz 586-CUP class > Origin = "GenuineINtel" Id = 0x517 Stepping = 7 > Features = 0x1bf > real memory = 32M > avail = 27M > Preload elf kernel "kernel" at 0xc050f000 > INtel Pentium detected, installing workaround for F00F bug > md0 Mallock disk > npx0: on motherboeard > npx0: INT 16 interface > pcib0: on motherboeard > pci0: PCI bus on pcib0 > atapci0: port 0x3f4-0x3f7,0x1f0-0x1f7 at device 1.0 on pci0 > atapci0: busmastering DMA not supported > atapci0: busmastering DMA disabled > ata2: at 0x1f0 on atapci0 > ata2 unable to allocate interrupt > device_probe_and _attach ata2 attach returned 6 > isab0 at device 2.0 on pci0 > isa0 ISA BUS on isab0 > xl0 Thernet address ---- > miibus0: MII BUS on xl0 > xlphy0 <3c905c, 10/100 internal PHY> on miibus0 > xlphy0: ---- > pci0: ed0 -- > ed0 --- > orm0: option roms at iomem 0xc00000xc7fff,0xc80000-0xc87ff,0xed000-0xedfff on isa0 > fdc0: NEC 72065B or clone at port 0x3f00x3f5, 0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2 on isa0 > fdc0: FIFO enabled, 8 bytes threshold > fd0 1440-KB 3.5 drive on fdc0 drive 0 > ata at port 0x170-0x177,0x376 irq 15 on isa0 > atkbd0 |AT keybord flags 0x1 irq 1 on atkbdc0 > kbd0 at atkbd0 > vga0 Generic ISA VGA at port 0x3c0-0x3df iomem oxa0000-0xbffff on isa0 > sc0 System console at flags 0x100 on isao > sc0 VGA 16 virtuals consoles flags=0x300 > sio0: configured irq 4 not in bitmap of probed irqs 0 > sio0 at port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 flags 0x10 on isa0 > sio0: type 8250 > sio1: configures irq 3 not in bitmap of probed irqs 0 > ppc0: parallel port not found > acd0: CDROM at ata1-master BIOSPIO > MOunt root from ufs:/dev/ad0s1a > no such device 'ad' > setrootbyname failed > ffs_mountroot can't fine rootvp > root mount failed: 6 > > mountroot> .... -- Tanks in advance for answering me, Alex To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
