TGA2 cards are really just TGA cards with a new (slightly faster and wider display bit-width) revision of the TGA chip (21130) and newer, better ramdac (IBM561, etc. with larger, wider color palettes); the older TGA cards had a 21030 revision TGA chip and nee' Brooktree BT463 and BT485 ramdac. The other BIG difference is that TGA2 cards were built with a VGA ROM onboard and just enough (~64k) video ram for VGA text display modes. The rest of the display memory (16MB on my 4D20) is only available in TGA mode, and TGA mode is only (meant to be) used by the X display server. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilkinson,Alex" To: "Wilko Bulte" Cc: "Peter Jeremy" ; "Andrew M.
