As of today I no longer get any error messages from my DVD drive on my T30 ThinkPad. For the first time in a couple of weeks, it seems to be completely clean and I am not seeing any errors, either real or spuriously reported. (I don't know if the previously reported error messages during the device probe were real or not; I have not seen any real problems since about a week ago.) -- R.
