But it works ok... I simply got used to this.

Now, inside my home machine I have a Pioneer ATAPI unit, which is reported
by kernel as <iPnoee r .....> - little/big endian confusion on part of
manufacturer :-)

I conclude from this that vendors often have peculiar understanding of
"standards"...
