I don't need smbfs, and I would happily disable it if I knew how. I am doing a complete buildworld, installworld, and then choking at buildkernel. this problem is on 3 new freebsd boxes as well as 20 boxes running an older 4.3-STABLE, 4.2-STABLE or 4.3-RELEASE. --Phil ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Squires" To: "Phil Rosenthal" Cc: Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2001 11:49 AM Subject: Re: KERNEL COMPILE IS BROKEN Phil Rosenthal [ Charset ISO-8859-1 unsupported, converting... ] > When trying to compile the same kernel config file I have been using for the > last 6 months, I receive this error: I had a similar (didn't keep trace, don't know for certain) problem with both smbfs and my kernel running my second install of 4.3-STABLE. Doing a complete make buildworld/kernel compilation/kernel installation/make installworld solved the problem. Both the kernel and smbfs compilation problems disappeared, plus some strange slowdowns on my Win2Kpro box (via X and samba) disappeared.
