I believe that is the time in seconds between updates to the life and time entries. That lets you know how fast it is possible to poll the information. If you are not aware of it, you can get quite a bit of additional information on your batteries with the command 'acpiconf -i n', where 'n' is the battery number starting with 0 for the first battery. -- R.
