Pieces of screen were drawn in the wrong place, overlaid windows still showed through the upper window, etc. The "window manager" problems I was seeing are apparently due to the SVGA server; when I switched to the S3V server (which the Cards file says is "old" so I initially ignored it), all of the problems I was seeing disappeared. Thanks to all who pointed out what cards worked for them, so I was assured that I would get it right *eventually*, even with different hardware. Terry R.
