A similar problem is described in http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-doc/2004-May/004262.html which recommends setting VM_KMEM_SIZE_MAX 419430400 for machines with large amounts of memory. Worked for me on a recent 5-STABLE. Might work for your rather elderly release. -- Adrian Wontroba
