I have seen questions being asked, and the high quality of the replies on this list is one of the reasons I initially switched to FreeBSD. However, some times threads of replies tend to grow large, and replies that include helpful tips that do solve the problem in question seem lost in the thread. What do you all think of making it a habbit to followup to posts that do indeed contain the answer with a post whose subject has "SOLVED: " prepended? Mail clients that support threading will display messages with something like this: 434 N 03.10 Giorgos Keramid [ 17] Upgrading mutt-devel port? 435 N 03.10 Spiros Papadopo [ 23] |-> 436 N 03.10 Giorgos Keramid [ 31] | `-> SOLVED: Upgrading mut 437 N 03.10 Jean Thomas [ 30] `*> This way someone who browses the archives later, will find it easier to locate in the thread the posts like the one from 'Spiros Papadopoulos' above which solved the problem of the original poster? Several lists that I'm already subscribed to, have similar 'policies'. But, this puts additional burden to the user who asks questions, and I'm kind of reluctant to 'force' it upon newbies who just want their problems solved. This is why I am asking. I'm interested to hear your opinion...
