The problem is, Cisco on their webpages says 340 DOESN'T have support for WEP, which I want. Now, I've borrowed the card to try it out, but I haven't bought an accesspoint yet, so I can't tell if I can get WEP to work anyway. It should be possible as far as I can tell because the 340 card can read raw 802.11 frames. Now, the funny part is, when I run ancontrol(8) -W 1 ifconfig says [blabla] wepmode ON [blabla]. So, the question is: will WEP work for me or do I have to buy another card? Thanks in advance! /BJ -------------------- an0: flags=8842 mtu 1500 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect (DS/11Mbps) status: no carrier ssid "" stationname "" channel 7 authmode OPEN powersavemode OFF powersavesleep 200 wepmode ON weptxkey 1 wepkey 1:128-bit wepkey 2:128-bit wepkey 3:128-bit wepkey 5:64-bit -------------------- Operating mode: [ infrastructure ] Receive mode: [ broadcast/multicast/unicast ] Fragment threshold: [ 2312 ] RTS threshold: [ 2312 ] MAC address: [ xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ] Supported rates: [ 1.0Mbps 2.0Mbps 5.5Mbps 11.0Mbps ] Short retry limit: [ 16 ] Long retry limit: [ 16 ] TX MSDU lifetime: [ 5000 ] RX MSDU lifetime: [ 10000 ] Stationary: [ Off ] Ordering: [ Off ] Device type: [ PC4800 ] Scanning mode: [ active ] Probe delay: [ 3 ] Probe energy timeout: [ 3 ] Probe response timeout: [ 20 ] Beacon listen timeout: [ 40 ] IBSS join network timeout: [ 10000 ] Authentication timeout: [ 2000 ] WEP enabled: [ full ] Authentication type: [ open ] Association timeout: [ 2000 ] Specified AP association timeout: [ 10000 ] Offline scan interval: [ 0 ] Offline scan duration: [ 0 ] Link loss delay: [ 0 ] Max beacon loss time: [ 500 ] Refresh interval: [ 10000 ] Power save mode: [ none ] Sleep through DTIMs: [ Off ] Power save listen interval: [ 200 ] Power save fast listen interval: [ 100 ] Power save listen decay: [ 2 ] Power save fast listen decay: [ 200 ] AP/ad-hoc Beacon period: [ 100 ] AP/ad-hoc ATIM duration: [ 0 ] AP/ad-hoc current channel: [ 7 ] AP/ad-hoc DTIM period: [ 1 ] Radio type: [ 802.11 DS ] RX Diversity: [ antenna 1 only ] TX Diversity: [ antenna 1 only ] Transmit power level: [ 30 ] RSS threshold: [ 0 ] Node name: [ ] ARL threshold: [ 65535 ] ARL decay: [ 65535 ] ARL delay: [ 65535 ] Configuration: [ Enterprise Configuration ] WEP Key status: Key 0 is set 128 bits Key 1 is set 128 bits Key 2 is set 128 bits Key 4 is set 40 bits The active transmit key is 0 -------------------- an0: port 0xc800-0xc83f,0xd000-0xd07f mem 0xe5800000-0xe580007f irq 10 at device 10.0 on pci0 -------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
