I'm just browsing through the PR-database, and found this PR. I have similar problems with my brand new Gigabyte GA-6VXDC7 mainboard (2x800 P-III, 512 MB RAM) running FreeBSD 4.4-RC from this morning (Sun=20 27th August). APM is detected .... apm0: on motherboard apm: found APM BIOS v1.2, connected at v1.2 .... and when I enable (apm -e enable) or query (just apm) on the console=20 the complete machine locks without any further information (DDB is=20 compiled in)! A quick test ans verification with the same kernel config, but SMP=20 support commented out seems to work. Please can you help? Any further ideas for testing? The BIOS is the=20 last one provided from Gigabye? I only found a Google message in the=20 Linux context (2000-12-30) whis stated: ....... apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.13) apm: disabled - APM is not SMP safe. ....... Is this perhaps a BIOS problem?
