Wouldn't that be nice if it were true. Over the years there have been many tries to unify Unix. SysVR4 begate OSF/1 (out of fear that Sun would get too much power by the other big guys HP, IBM and DEC). Posix, Spec 1170, etc. All have failed. Porting between Unicies is a big thing, not as big as Windows to Mac to Unix or any direction. But still it's non-trivial.
