I understand that you will have a > one-time cost of migrating your conf file to Xin's format .... Unless there are too many arp entries to convert and these "files" are also used by other utilities. Adding support for reading it from file is negligible comparing to the effort one should take to convert plain 'arp -f' entires into rc.conf style and keep them in sync.
