Of course, the entire build complains due to WARNS being raised above 0 and NO_WERROR has not been defined. The only reference I can find in UPDATING is: 20020225: Warnings are now errors in the kernel. Unless you are a developer, you should add -DNO_WERROR to your make line. I definately do not call libiberty kernel related. Nor do we, by default, advocate NO_WERROR. It appears that a new magic value, KERNELDUMPMAGIC_CLEARED, has been introduced but its value never #define-d in (probably) src/sys/sys/kerneldump.h. This way, the program does not compile. There is only so much one can deduce from the code, it is the author who should know what was intended here. This breaks the world. -- Regards: Szilveszter ADAM Szombathely Hungary To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-current Sun May 5 6:52:53 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-current@freebsd.org Received: from elvis.mu.org (elvis.mu.org [192.203.228.196]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 610F137B405; Sun, 5 May 2002 06:52:47 -0700 (PDT) Received: by elvis.mu.org (Postfix, from userid 1920) id 335E4AE1C6; Sun, 5 May 2002 06:52:47 -0700 (PDT) Date: Sun, 5 May 2002 06:52:47 -0700 From: Maxime Henrion To: current@FreeBSD.org Cc: Szilveszter Adam , Bill Fenner Subject: Re: savecore.c broken now, breaks world Message-ID: <20020505135247.GN63621@elvis.mu.org> References: <20020505131747.GA534@fonix.adamsfamily.xx> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20020505131747.GA534@fonix.adamsfamily.xx> User-Agent: Mutt/1.3.27i Sender: owner-freebsd-current@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Szilveszter Adam wrote: > Hello, > > src/sbin/savecore.c has been broken today, with the commit of rev 1.59 > by Bill Fenner. I've been struggling upgrading kernel since beginning of April, and finally found I have to add "options LOOKUP_EXCLUSIVE" to my kernel config file. Without LOOKUP_EXCLUSIVE, - some of the processes stall in "inode" state, and can't be killed by any signals - shutting down(and maybe unmounting) the system results in the panic: lockmgr: upgrade exclusive lock The stalling processes are all touching files under nullfs-mounted directories, so I think nullfs code is not yet LOOKUP_SHARED-safe. If anyone is interested, I can post the backtrace and my kernel config (after upgrading the world and rebuilding the panicking kernel). Regards. I've tried three different 32 bit cards and every time the card was inserted the laptop locked up. I recompiled the kernel without the miibus and dc and then inserted the Xircom card the laptop would appear to lock up, that is, everything that was running just stopped. When the card was re-inserted, everything would come back to life and a console message would appear reporting 'pccbb0: Cardbus card activation failed'. A similar result was experienced with the other cards. With that said, I'm still no closer to identifying the cause of these problems. Any ideas?
