Since you have the 1540B, there's an upgrade for the BIOS and Microcode available, which fixes the problem. Sender: owner-freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk Hi! I'm trying to enable SCSIDEBUG on a FreeBSD 2.1.0-950928-SNAP system. I've set SCSIDEBUG and DDB in my config-file, and remade/installed/booted the new kernel. I still don't get any debug-info. I expected kernel: type messages with the debug statements in /sys/scsi/*.c, but nothing seems to show when i probe my SCSI devices. (If you really want to know, I'm trying to see what the system learns from some Exabyte 5GB and 2 GB drives. (I also want to be able to use the 5 GB in 2 GB mode, but that's another story)) Any hints? -Terje From owner-freebsd-scsi Thu Oct 12 06:10:07 1995 Return-Path: owner-freebsd-scsi Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.6.12/8.6.6) id GAA09367 for freebsd-scsi-outgoing; Thu, 12 Oct 1995 06:10:07 -0700 Received: from hda.com (hda.com [199.232.40.182]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.6.12/8.6.6) with ESMTP id GAA09360 for ; Thu, 12 Oct 1995 06:10:03 -0700 Received: (from dufault@localhost) by hda.com (8.6.11/8.6.9) id FAA01981; Thu, 12 Oct 1995 05:10:32 -0400 From: Peter Dufault Message-Id: <199510120910.FAA01981@hda.com> Subject: Re: How do I enable SCSIDEBUG? Now use the "-d" flag (do a man scsi) to set the debug level on a particular device to a non-zero value. The assumption that all the disk world is thinking in 512-byte records is wrong, too. It's even possible for regular (type 0) disks to be formatted to almost any record size, but the entire matter starts getting annoying for media where you can't change the record size like magneto-optical disks that are often available with either 512 or 1024-byte records. -- cheers, J"org joerg_wunsch@uriah.heep.sax.de -- http://www.sax.de/~joerg/ -- NIC: JW11-RIPE Never trust an operating system you don't have sources for. ;-)
