Any success? Any rumor(s) about Oracle for FreeBSD? There's a how-to at: http://www.wi.leidenuniv.nl/~mhmoolen/howto-oracle.html As for rumours, they've always been around. Lot's of people suspect that there's a version of Oracle for FreeBSD in existence, but it's being held back from release by Oracle. -- Jonathan Chen | "Vini, vidi, velcro... | I came, I saw, I stuck around" To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-database Wed Mar 17 19:46:49 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-database@freebsd.org Received: from misery.sdf.com (misery.sdf.com [204.244.213.49]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 61C0114DC0 for ; Wed, 17 Mar 1999 19:46:25 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from tom@sdf.com) Received: from tom by misery.sdf.com with esmtp (Exim 1.82 #3) id 10NSjy-00028w-00; Wed, 17 Mar 1999 18:40:58 -0800 Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 18:40:56 -0800 (PST) From: Tom To: Jonathan Chen Cc: Alex Povolotsky , freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Oracle 8.0.5 for Linux and DBD In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk On Thu, 18 Mar 1999, Jonathan Chen wrote: > As for rumours, they've always been around. Lots of people KNOW that a version of Oracle exists for FreeBSD. Mainly from when Oracle employees come on the list and talk about it. It's performance is not that great at this point. As far as I know nothing has been doing with it for a while. If you want to talk about rumours: one rumour has FreeBSD being used for the core os for the Oracle 8i appliance (basically a black-box Oracle 8i server). > -- > Jonathan Chen | "Vini, vidi, velcro... > | I came, I saw, I stuck around" > Tom To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-database" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-database Thu Mar 18 4:11:28 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-database@freebsd.org Received: from complx.LF.net (complx.LF.net [195.206.130.10]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2C3C715412 for ; Thu, 18 Mar 1999 04:11:00 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from pi@complx.LF.net) Received: by complx.LF.net (Smail3.2.0.103/complx.LF.net) via LF.net GmbH Internet Services from pi for freebsd-database@freebsd.org for host hub.freebsd.org id m10NbdB-000zyVC; Thu, 18 Mar 1999 13:10:33 +0100 (CET) Message-Id: Subject: Re: Oracle 8.0.5 for Linux and DBD To: tarkhil@asteroid.svib.ru Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 13:10:33 +0100 (CET) From: "Kurt Jaeger" Cc: freebsd-database@freebsd.org In-Reply-To: <199903171432.RAA16773@shuttle.svib.ru> from "Alex Povolotsky" at Mar 17, 1999 05:32:50 PM MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk Hi! > I'm trying to set up Oracle for Linux on 3.1-RELEASE, and I'm planning to > compile DBD::Oracle later. www.lf.net/lf/pi/oracle/install-linux-oracle-on-freebsd for my results. oracle works (cleanly and fast 8-), but I had no success with DBD::Oracle. > Did anyone try it? Any success? http://www.wi.leidenuniv.nl/~mhmoolen/ has some pages on the complete development env. for linux under fbsd 3.1 and other hints on linux oracle with fbsd. Maybe DBD works with that.
