Well, GEOM should let you see the devices in /dev. Note that you will need to add 'GEOM_MBR' to your kernel (either as an option or kldload geom_mbr.ko) so that GEOM will see the MBR that the label lives inside of. That should give you the /dev/ad0s1a, etc. devices. However, I'm not sure if you will be able to mount the filesystems due to sizeof(long) differences. Since the endianness is the same you might be able to, though. -- John Baldwin <>< http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ "Power Users Use the Power to Serve" = http://www.FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Jun 7 17:04:01 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2C71516A4CE; Mon, 7 Jun 2004 17:04:01 +0000 (GMT) Received: from ns.gobinjf.be (ns.gobinjf.be [62.197.79.66]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8947543D54; Mon, 7 Jun 2004 17:03:57 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gobin@gobinjf.be) Received: from ns.kyrian.be (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by ns.gobinjf.be (8.12.10/8.12.10) with ESMTP id i57H3luW092369; Mon, 7 Jun 2004 19:03:47 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from gobin@gobinjf.be) Received: from localhost (gobin@localhost) by ns.kyrian.be (8.12.10/8.12.10/Submit) with ESMTP id i57H3gWv092366; Mon, 7 Jun 2004 19:03:46 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from gobin@gobinjf.be) X-Authentication-Warning: ns.kyrian.be: gobin owned process doing -bs Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2004 19:03:42 +0200 (CEST) From: Jean-Francois Gobin X-X-Sender: gobin@ns To: John Baldwin In-Reply-To: <200406071147.40782.jhb@FreeBSD.org> Message-ID: <20040607190259.O92365@ns> References: <20040522162706.GA7409@dischord.org> <200405241032.18350.jhb@FreeBSD.org> <200406071147.40782.jhb@FreeBSD.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII cc: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org Subject: Re: geom_bsd X-BeenThere: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the Alpha List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2004 17:04:01 -0000 Well, sounds like a perfect occasion for a "brave" to write to emulation code, that can mount i386 partitions on alpha, using raw mode access to the disk.
