I usually manage to remember 'ports' for most contexts doesn't include the bulk of the ports themselves (source code, etc.) so despite the number of them involved they're relatively speaking light-weight. It's only when you build them and pack them up in a .tgz/.tbz file and stick them into the ports/ section of the FTP site they get "large"... But sometimes I forget that... Besides cvsup mirrors are Jun's turf. :-) I am surprised at the size of src, I guess that's what this much history gets you. -- Ken Smith - From there to here, from here to | kensmith@cse.buffalo.edu there, funny things are everywhere. | - Theodore Geisel | From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Wed May 19 08:29:41 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3299D16A4CE; Wed, 19 May 2004 08:29:41 -0700 (PDT) Received: from smtp.des.no (flood.des.no [217.116.83.31]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 85B6E43D41; Wed, 19 May 2004 08:29:40 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from des@des.no) Received: by smtp.des.no (Pony Express, from userid 666) id 1DF055312; Wed, 19 May 2004 17:29:15 +0200 (CEST) Received: from dwp.des.no (des.no [80.203.228.37]) by smtp.des.no (Pony Express) with ESMTP id 582C75310; Wed, 19 May 2004 17:28:52 +0200 (CEST) Received: by dwp.des.no (Postfix, from userid 2602) id F399533CAA; Wed, 19 May 2004 17:28:51 +0200 (CEST) To: Ken Smith References: <200404141231.i3ECVgnb037966@repoman.freebsd.org> <20040415105223.GA771@zaphod.nitro.dk> <20040415205623.GA46098@abigail.blackend.org> <20040416033747.GA16273@electra.cse.Buffalo.EDU> <20040519133653.GC5091@electra.cse.Buffalo.EDU> From: des@des.no (=?iso-8859-1?q?Dag-Erling_Sm=F8rgrav?=) Date: Wed, 19 May 2004 17:28:51 +0200 In-Reply-To: <20040519133653.GC5091@electra.cse.Buffalo.EDU> (Ken Smith's message of "Wed, 19 May 2004 09:36:53 -0400") Message-ID: User-Agent: Gnus/5.1006 (Gnus v5.10.6) Emacs/21.3 (berkeley-unix) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.63 (2004-01-11) on flood.des.no X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 tests=AWL autolearn=no version=2.63 cc: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org cc: doc-committers@freebsd.org Subject: Re: cvs commit: doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/hubs article.sgml X-BeenThere: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Distributions Hubs: mail sup ftp List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 19 May 2004 15:29:41 -0000 Ken Smith writes: > I am surprised at the size of src, I guess that's what this much > history gets you. that's the point - ports tree history is regularly purged to keep the repo to a manageable size, but src history is for keeps.
