I am a self taught hacker type, and my experience with FreeBSD began in the summer of 2001, when I installed -stable on a home PC that I built. After getting my Bachelors in Engineering, with a major in Instrumentation and Control last year, I went on to work full time as a FreeBSD sysadmin, doing in a professional capacity what had essentially been a fun hobby. Over the past few years I have worked with Apache, sendmail/postfix, pop/imap, NFS/SAMBA, NIS, LPD/CUPS, BIND, ISC-DHCP, VPNs and other security related stuff like firewalls. I have also dabbled with Bourne shell scripting, Perl programming, and a bit of LISP. I am looking for a new gig as a junior/intermediate level systems administrator at a small to mid sized firm. I have a strong preference for FreeBSD, but will consider using other operating systems for specific tasks should they be better suited for it.I am quick to learn new technologies should they be required. I am currently based out of southern India, but would be willing to relocate for the right position. My resume is available as the text attachment. Should you require one in postscript/pdf or other formats, please let me know. regards, Varoun P 20 Sep 2004 --------------020300010801000502050001 Content-Type: text/plain; name="resume" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="resume" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Varoun P A25, Parameswaran Vihar, 28 Arcot Road, Saligramam, Chennai, TN, INDIA - 600093. There are links to PostScript, PDF, HTML, and ASCII text versions of my resume at http://www.catwhisker.org/~david for folks who might be interested. I tend to be more comfortable providing support for developers, vs. supporting heavy-duty production systems -- in part because I came to sysadmin work from a programming background. The ideal position would also provide or allow me a way to contribute back to the FreeBSD project. I've only been working with FreeBSD since February 1998, but I've worked with UNIX since 1986, and with other types of systems since 1970. I've been involved with a fair variety of systems in that time; the resume has more information on that, and more details are certainly available: I didn't want folks to fall asleep from boredom while reading this note, though. I'm in the San Francisco (California) Bay area (Redwood City; see the LOC record for catwhisker.org for particulars), but quite willing to telecommute and/or travel within reason. I'm quite comfortable using SSH for access to machines (my laptop's keyboard is nearly the only one I use anyway -- and the machine on which this note is being written is not my laptop) and have a static IP address here at home. Thanks for your attention, david -- David H. Wolfskill david@catwhisker.org Evidence of curmudgeonliness: becoming irritated with the usage of the word "speed" in contexts referring to quantification of network performance, as opposed to "bandwidth" or "latency." The company's products are based on a proprietary technology breakthrough that enables partitioning and distributed simulation of large tightly-coupled systems. Gains in throughput scale linearly with the number of processors used and are achieved with no sacrifice in accuracy. This technology can be applied to problems in a number of significant markets including semiconductors, biotechnology, chemical and petroleum industries and the aerospace industry. The company's initial focus is on transistor-level simulation of integrated circuit designs. This represents a large market with a clear and growing demand for greater capacity and throughput of transistor-level simulation without any loss in accuracy.
