What I sent you was the output of diff(1) and represents the differences between files that you have now and files your should get to make it work. You safe the mail and give it to patch(1), like % cd /sys/conf % patch --ignore-whitespace < saved_email Then you run config as normal and build the kernel. When I mention diff(1) and patch(1), I mean the user tools for which you can read the manual page with: % man 1 diff % man 1 patch This is as far as I can help you. If this doesn't help you on your way, then you have to wait for 5.5 to be released and switch to that. I believe that buildworld on 4.x still builds and installs new modules into /modules including the linux and osf1 compat modules. New modules aren't guaranteed to work on older kernels, so if your kernel is still 4.9, that is probably your problem. -- John Baldwin <>< http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ "Power Users Use the Power to Serve" = http://www.FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jun 15 23:31:51 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: alpha@FreeBSD.org Delivered-To: freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CACFC16A41C for ; Wed, 15 Jun 2005 23:31:51 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from marcel@xcllnt.net) Received: from ns1.xcllnt.net (209-128-86-226.BAYAREA.NET [209.128.86.226]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 957AF43D48 for ; Wed, 15 Jun 2005 23:31:51 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from marcel@xcllnt.net) Received: from [192.168.4.250] (dhcp50.pn.xcllnt.net [192.168.4.250]) by ns1.xcllnt.net (8.13.3/8.13.3) with ESMTP id j5FNVp2e009464 for ; Wed, 15 Jun 2005 16:31:51 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from marcel@xcllnt.net) Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v622) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-Id: <6fca0ff7c7549bdc2e59ad813c82a72b@xcllnt.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed To: alpha@FreeBSD.org From: Marcel Moolenaar Date: Wed, 15 Jun 2005 16:31:48 -0700 X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.622) Cc: Subject: Back to PR alpha/30486: broken floppy on DS10 X-BeenThere: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the Alpha List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 15 Jun 2005 23:31:51 -0000 Ok, So now that I have a DS10, I tried to reproduce the floppy problem.
