I'm setting up accounts to run off an NFS account, so at this point it didn't make sense to have it put together user accounts. I selected NO, and I got some kind of "panic." It restarted and so I didn't get the exact error text, but it was something along the lines "nothing to init." Yeah, I know, it would be nice to have the exact error message, but I didn't want to have to go through another complete install just to get it. In exchange I got for a demaged ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe a newer ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe. The old one ran like a charme. Now, the new A8N32-SLI Deluxe, shows some very strange things apart from the usual stuff I expect. First the second SATA2 controller seems not to be supported (SiI 3132, PCIe) and also the PCIe attached GBit Marvell LAN chip. Another point are these strange lines in dmesg: pcib0: port 0xcf8-0xcff on acpi0 pci0: on pcib0 pci0: at device 0.0 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.1 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.2 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.3 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.4 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.5 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.6 (no driver attached) pci0: at device 0.7 (no driver attached) The box has 2 GB of DDR400 ECC memory and BIOS shows a lot of very innovative ECC options like chipkill etc. I think the new AMI BIOS of the A8N32-SLI Deluxe shows much more than the older Award BIOS of the A8N-SLI Deluxe? Well, I'm not a hardware technician, so I feel still slightly surprised ... I attached the complete dmesg output. Any success? I think I've been hit by a similar problem trying to upgrade from FreeBSD 5.x/i386 to 6.x/amd64 on an AND Athlon 64 X2 3800+, with a Tekram DC-390 SCSI adapter. When booting from the FreeBSD install CD-ROM (6.1-BETA3 as well as 6.1-20060320-STABLE-amd64), the boot stops with a panic; I'm not sure it always does at the same place, I noted one at device scan: ______________________________________________________ Waiting 5 seconds for SCSI devices to settle (noperiph:sym0:0:-1:-1): SCSI BUS reset delivered. It seemed that all is working just fine. I've compiled Enlightenment and a few other apps. At one point I've installed Thunderbird, Seamonkey and some other apps and that's when the problems started. Those apps got frozen when I started them. They start normally, and after a few sec they just die stopping my X. All I can do is move the mouse around. I'm new to 64-bit OSes. Am I missing some setting? I've installed both 4x and 5x compat packaged and Linux base. I've got the same apps working just fine now on i386 FreeBSD. 10x -- Regards, Marko Milenovic http://www.bsd-srbija.org/ --------------ms010509010703010309030605 Content-Type: application/x-pkcs7-signature;
