I committed x11-servers/synaptics, which is a driver for the Synaptics Touchpad on XFree86 4.x/Xorg. It works good on Panasonic CF-R4/FreeBSD 6.1-BETA, I saw. Please install your notePC after 0.14.4_3:-) and later, and Adopt parameters you like! SEE ALSO: synatics(4), you can see details. So no news for me here. The synaptics supports psaux/event/alps/psm/auto-dev protocol. sysmouse protocol is moused(8)'s protocol. Yes, recent psm(4) driver supports Synaptics Touchpad, but not enough feature. > The only new thing for me is that xorg seems to see without setting > extrabuttons > (**) touchpad: ZAxisMapping: buttons 4, 5, 6 and 7 > (**) touchpad: Buttons: 11 > but they do not work ... loading xev nothing happens when pressing them unlike > I set protocol to auto with synaptics set in loader.conf. > Also when I tap on a scrollbar it worls only for the first tap, the second tap > in order to be found I need to move the mouse pointer first. > Ocasionally unvoluntary keyboard repeat as in "jjjjjjjjjjjeah" > When setting PS/2 the scroll is not working and I am back to standar psm > driver :( I think that you use moused(8)/psm(4) FreeBSD native synaptics touchpad driver and synaptics(4) X11 driver. Nice work, except that on amd64, I had to force "make ARCH=3Dx86_64", edit the Makefile and change "lib64" to "lib". For some mysterious reason, the Makefile doesn't picking up ARCH variable and asume it is on i386. This is (or was) a common issue with many Toshiba keyboards and xkbset can work around it. You can Google for it. I think that xorg may have a debounce option, too, but I'm not sure. -- R. Even with a non-supported laptop it may be possible to get it to work with modifications, like with my Sony. 6.0 has expanded wireless support and I think WPA support: http://www.freebsdmall.com/~loader/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/wireless/article.html Good luck. You might check out PC-BSD. I've been using it since 0.6 and it's basically a pretty front end built on top of a FreeBSD system: http://www.pcbsd.org/?p=pcbsd . It's very robust and is getting better. I love it. Saves me a lot of configuration and setup time and comes pre-loaded with alot of things you'll find of use. Also uses a packaging system, using .pbi files, but supports the use of the ports tree. Check it out, you might find it saves you some time as well. I can control the wired connection via ifconfig and the wireless via wpa_supplicant, but I am having a difficult time getting the routing adjusted when I plug/unlpug the network cable. I am new to wireless in FreeBSD and don't have a lot of experience with using ifconfig/route in general, so maybe I am doing something brain dead. I tried the following workflow: killall dhcp route flush (exec start wpa_supplicant script) route add 192.168.2.1 (for wireless) But that doesn't seem to work. I have had the best luck when I do ifconfig bfe0 down to force not using the wired connection. I have also tried putting the script in /etc/devd.conf but I it didn't work as I expected, so I doubt I had that configured correctly. I guess my question comes in 2 parts. a) Besides using cron and scraping ifconfig, how do I detect the plug/unplug events and b) how do I reliable change the routing table to point to the correct gateway? Thanks for any pointers. The cards do work in freebsd-6.1 (and 6.0, albeit with a version advanced HAL, which is present in most of the pfSense distributions for the past 3-4 months. There are two potential issues that I can think of: 1) 0xffin the upper nibble of the device ID typically means a pre- production card. Netgate hasn't sold any pre-production 8602s into its customer base (and our records show that , while being a customer (thank you), didn't purchase any 8602 cards from us. In any case, if the card is, indeed "pre-production", it should probably be replaced. 2) Its possible that the PCI reset timing is causing this issue. Although this is the 'freebd-mobile' list, I have been told that the application here is actually in a PC Engines WRAP board. Be aware that PC Engines recently released an update to the BIOS for its WRAP boards. From the release notes: > WRAP BIOS revision history: > ; v1.11 > ; pd 051108 extend insufficient PCI reset pulse width - caused > ; problems with Atheros single chip cards. > The 8602 cards are (indeed) based on a single-chip Atheros part. It would behoove to check that the WRAP board is actually running this release of the BIOS (or later). You don't have to use killall. However even if an interface is down it will still confuse routing when it has a valid IP. Thus I advice you the following if you unplug: # ifconfig interface0 0.0.0.0 down # route flush # route add default -interface interface1 You have to replace inteface0 and 1 with whatever suits your system. Netgate website has great service, products, information and links. I hope no one assumed because I referenced their excellent information to assist in my explanation that my difficulties involved them in any way. These two EMP-8602 cards were purchased from Aztekcomputers.com. I just emailed EnGeniusTech support to find out if they are indeed pre-production cards, and if so ask for an eeprom upgrade or rma. I'll check the WRAP BIOS version monday and upgrade if necessary.. Thank you so much, -Pete ________________________________________________________________ Sent via the WebMail system at ipro.net
