While rummaging around in the makefiles for gnome2 and gnome2-lite I noticed that www/yelp is included in run-depends twice in gnome2-lite. First unconditionally in the Makefile, and then conditionally in the gnome2 makefile. Is this on purpose, or an oversight? If It's an oversight, the fix probably is to remove line 24 from gnome2-lite/Makefile. The delay in releasing 6.2 has been so long, the GNOME that ships with 6.2 should really not be used. People should upgrade to 2.16.2 with all of the bug fixes that have gone in since then. No, there is nothing useful here. The ktrace looks good. The last thing hald does is read the PCI config registers (part of the initial PCI bus probe). You need to get a full backtrace from hald once it appears to lock up. To do that, you should run hald manually, then use gdb to bind to it once it's locked up. Then get a full backtrace. Line 150 of hf-pci.c is not in hf_pci_probe(). The real line 150 represents a loop that iterates through the devices list. This list must be finite. I don't see how this problem could occur based on this information. I've finally gotten round to upgrading my glib20 package, and it bonked on me. I could sure use some help here. It looks like it's a simple matter of a missing header file, but I can't see the right approach. Attached is the compressed log file from the upgrade script mentioned in the UPDATING file. If I've left any info out, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks in advance. If I try to start it by itself, it fails with: Failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon: Failed to execute dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session expected. When I startx and then switch to another virtual console, and run: gdb /usr/local/libexec/gnome-vfs-daemon and then within gdb run bt the response I get is No stack. gdb /usr/local/libexec/gnome-vfs-daemon GNU gdb 6.1.1 [FreeBSD] Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. It turns out there was a dependency that wasn't correctly built or linked for some reason, and the script didn't spot the problem. I tracked it down to the devel/irc port, which I forced an upgrade of, and glib20 built without incident. Maybe this will help tweak the script or raise a flag for others with the same problem. You should be running your gnome-session through dbus-launch. This should happen automatically when gnome-session is run. If you do not have a dbus-daemon running similar to: dbus-daemon --fork --print-address 22 --print-pid 24 Then nothing will work correctly. >=20 > When I startx and then switch to another virtual console, and > run: gdb /usr/local/libexec/gnome-vfs-daemon and then within gdb > run bt the response I get is No stack. That's because the process is not running. You need to bind gdb to a running instance of gnome-vfs-daemon. CUPS isn't synced yet, so it causes problems. * patch-26_remove-no-cups-dialog: Don't show a dialog when CUPS isn't found. * patch-27_dont-request-additional-attributes: Avoid calling gnome_cups_request_add_requested_attributes() since CUPS returns all attributes by defaults anyway. * patch-change_uri_fix: Fix the URI change. * patch-gutenprint_driver_name: Do not crash if a PPD file name does not contain a '/'. * patch-password_field_garbage: When editing SMB connection attributes, do not set the password input field to the value of 'resource' (which is 'smb'). We do not get the password in cleartext, so just leave the field blank. * patch-select_eintr_crash: Do not bail out if select() fails with EINTR, which is a valid case. * patch-ui_edit_name_description: Add gnome-cups-add step to change printer name, description, and location. * patch-ui_startbox: Improvement on startup, run progress bar in the first startup to scan the printer database. * patch-ui_tooltip: Adjust tooltip for cups network printer installation. -------------------- PR: ports/106972 Reported by: Werner Tested by: Werner Revision Changes Path 1.28 +1 -1 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/Makefile 1.1 +41 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-24_printer_properties_name_entry (new) 1.1 +14 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-25_properties_on_add (new) 1.1 +24 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-26_remove-no-cups-dialog (new) 1.1 +15 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-27_dont-request-additional-attributes (new) 1.1 +25 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-change_uri_fix (new) 1.1 +62 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-gutenprint_driver_name (new) 1.1 +11 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-password_field_garbage (new) 1.1 +12 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-select_eintr_crash (new) 1.1 +624 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-ui_edit_name_description (new) 1.1 +112 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-ui_startbox (new) 1.1 +794 -0 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/files/patch-ui_tooltip (new) 1.12 +33 -3 ports/print/gnome-cups-manager/pkg-plist 1.20 +1 -1 ports/print/libgnomecups/Makefile 1.1 +14 -0 ports/print/libgnomecups/files/patch-20_parse-dot-cups-lpoptions (new) 1.1 +17 -0 ports/print/libgnomecups/files/patch-21_fix-islocal (new) 1.1 +12 -0 ports/print/libgnomecups/files/patch-22_ignore-ipp-not-found (new) 1.1 +36 -0 ports/print/libgnomecups/files/patch-23_replace-set-printer-attrs (new) 1.1 +23 -0 ports/print/libgnomecups/files/patch-24_mem-leak (new) 1.1 +50 -0 ports/print/libgnomecups/files/patch-25_browsed_ppds (new) 1.7 +28 -2 ports/print/libgnomecups/pkg-plist _______________________________________________ cvs-all@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/cvs-all To unsubscribe, send any mail to "cvs-all-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Jan 5 13:00:35 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1EE2816A40F; If you want my honest opinion. I don't think it's worth to poke in libgda but if it's what you need/want then I have no problem with it as long as someone recheck the plist. The last time update of libgda was back in March 2002, so that's up to you if you still want to poke it. :-) Cheers, Mezz > Bye, > Alexander. -- mezz7@cox.net - mezz@FreeBSD.org FreeBSD GNOME Team - FreeBSD Multimedia Hat (ports, not src) http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/ - gnome@FreeBSD.org http://wiki.freebsd.org/multimedia - multimedia@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jan 6 19:06:12 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EE70316A403 for ; Sat, 6 Jan 2007 19:06:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marcus@marcuscom.com) Received: from creme-brulee.marcuscom.com (creme-brulee.marcuscom.com [24.172.16.118]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9147613C44B for ; Sat, 6 Jan 2007 19:06:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marcus@marcuscom.com) Received: from [192.168.1.4] (shumai.marcuscom.com [192.168.1.4]) by creme-brulee.marcuscom.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l06J6VIq070877; Sat, 6 Jan 2007 14:06:31 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from marcus@marcuscom.com) From: Joe Marcus Clarke To: Jeremy Messenger In-Reply-To: References: <20070106160824.19bdf635@Magellan.Leidinger.net> Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="=-zZ4B6tF3fZ3RAIp0TIc5" Organization: MarcusCom, Inc. Up until recently, we were tracking the 1.9x versions, but many ports did not build with the new API. libgda will be around for a while in some form or another. I am not sure if it's right. Have you re-check the plist yet? If No. Do you think it will change? So far I didn't noticed (no message about plist problems on pkg_deinstall) anything (it should be compiled with mysql 3.23 support on the machine I did this), but I didn't searched for anything specific. For libgda2 I can find the mysql stuff in a subdirectoy of the lib directory, for the libgda-0.x I can not find something like this (also not with nm or ldd in /usr/local/lib/libgda*). > you want my honest opinion. I don't think it's worth to poke in libgda but > if it's what you need/want then I have no problem with it as long as > someone recheck the plist. I don't need/want it, I just did it (a while ago) when I was playing around with it... :-) My mail was triggered because I had to compile libgda-0.x for an gnucash update I have locally (I want to give it a try, but not the outdated version we have in the ports). If someone is interested, the patch is also available at the URL above. So far it runs, I didn't tested anything except the quit functionality.
