It corrects the problem that positional parameters do not always work. Specifically, the problem is that, under certain conditions, when you prepare a statement with placeholders and specify a column order in the statement other than the one with which the table was created, the execute will die with 'Unknown named parameter'. I can't seem to find the smallest test case that makes the bug happen, but it did affect some of the queries I had in a largish program. I also found out that the Debian folks had also run into this problem, and their patch corrects the defect on FreeBSD. The patch begins here: --- dbdimp.c.orig Sun Jul 29 14:00:46 2007 +++ dbdimp.c Sun Jul 29 13:59:56 2007 @@ -440,7 +440,7 @@ int is_inout, IV maxlen) { int pos; - if (!SvIOK(param)) { + if (!SvIOKp(param)) { int len; char *paramstring; paramstring = SvPV(param, len); -- Jonathan C. Often, this is due to a better alternative having become available and/or the cessation of development on the existing port. In some cases, ports are marked for removal because they fail to build and install correctly from their sources, or otherwise fail in operation. The ports listed in this email are ports that depend on one or more of the ports that are scheduled to be removed, but are not yet themselves on the list. However, once those ports are removed, these ports will then become broken, and thus the reason for this email. Affected port: portname: devel/p5-File-HStore deprecated because: build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=devel&portname=p5-File-HStore Expiring ports upon which this one depends: portname: security/p5-Digest-SHA2 deprecated because: Has numerious known bugs, deprecated in favor of Digest::SHA expiration date: 2007-09-10 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=security&portname=p5-Digest-SHA2 If you are already aware of the above problem(s), please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. If I don't hear back from him, I will release the changes as a patch to the port. Can you maybe hold of a week on this port's removal?
