My name is Andrew Lim and I am from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management. I have recently launched a web service for journal ranking at www.journal-ranking.com and would appreciate your participation. The service provides a brand new paradigm to ranking more than 7,000 journals from all disciplines and introduces two new indicators relevant to journal quality by considering both the journal influence index and the paper influence index. Most importantly, there exists no such model that will fit all needs, so this web service is an attempt to facilitate universal access and broad based consultation with all academicians. The service is established to allow all users to validate various scenarios and parameters to rank journals. We have created a forum for feedback from the audience and we are in the process of designing a set of web surveys. The intent of this service is to garner valuable insight from your participation to continually refine the journal ranking model. Journal ranking is critically important to research and to the academia, hence doing it right is worthwhile. This web service is a passionate commitment to this endeavor. We look forward to your support and participation. I have been trying to install FreeBSD 6.2-Release on this hardware with no success...i have also tried 6.1 release, as well as 6.0 release but still get the same error, at the same point. i attempted with a boot only CD for 6.1-Release as well. it boots well, but gets to a point and logs: usb1: Host controller halter uhub1: device problem (IOERROR), disabling port 1 panic: usbd_transfer: not done and reboots... if i remove the USB keyboard, all above versions of FreeBSD boot, but when i plug the keyboard back in, its not functional. i managed to get it to boot once with the keyboard plugged in, but loose it after it gets to the sysinstall part. I disabled the front USB ports and got no difference, i disabled the USB controller from BIOS, but of course that leaves me with no USB functionality on the system. any one come across this? i ruled out a problem with FreeBSD and USB functionality because i installed FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE on to a Dell PowerEdge 1950 and it worked well....tried all other 6.x that i have and they worked well too! Regards, Mike -- Of course, you might discount this possibility, but remember that one in a million chances happen 99% of the time ------------------------------------------------------------ From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jan 24 21:40:25 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB33F16A402 for ; Wed, 24 Jan 2007 21:40:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BC98813C46A for ; Wed, 24 Jan 2007 21:40:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id l0OLePQ4004129 for ; Wed, 24 Jan 2007 21:40:25 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id l0OLeP6P004128; Wed, 24 Jan 2007 21:40:25 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2007 21:40:25 GMT Message-Id: <200701242140.l0OLeP6P004128@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org From: Jacco van Buuren Cc: Subject: Re: usb/104810: [usb] panic: ohci_add_done: addr 0x3fef1ba0 not found X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Jacco van Buuren List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2007 21:40:25 -0000 The following reply was made to PR usb/104810; it has been noted by GNATS. I happen to experience just the EXACT same thing when booting 6.2 Release AMD64 on my brand new Dell E521 (AMD 64 4200+ X2, nVidia Geforce 6150). After some googling it seems that a BIOS upgrade fixes this. I went from bios version 1.0.3 to 1.1.4 and then booted FreeBSD 6.2 Release AMD64 without any problems (although I haven't installed it (yet)). I haven't looked at the i386 version yet... On a side note: This problem is repeating itself all the way into Linuxland and is/was widely discussed in the Dell forums, so I assume it's not a strictly BSDish related problem. Please note however that this report is probably the same as 105196 (also informed about this). It omits the last line in if_rum.c and if_rumvar.c. I added both missing lines and it compiled without any problems, I can load the kmod and have a rum0 device. However it does not work for me. I am repeatedly getting this kernel message: rum: timeout waiting for BBP and: send_packet: network is down Could it be, that i need to load the firmware first? Another thing is that I am getting a kernel panic when I insert the WLAN Stick (D-Link DWL-G122 C1). Can you reproduce any of these errors? First, when I connect my Flash drive to computer (unfortunately, I forgot the vendor's name, but its vendor number is 0x1005), some messages appear on the console saying atausb0: using SCSI over Bulk-Only ata2: on atausb0 afd0: 247MB at ata2-master USB2 Everything just fine. But in fact no special file is created in /dev , neither afd0 nor da0. So I cannot use it. What is worse, when I unplug it, output is (not precisly, I cannot panic my system right now to reproduce it) atausb: ... WARNING: afd0 was disconnected atpicam2: device was lost kernel panic: page fault while in kernel mode ... The exactly the same behaviour was shown on the other machine with atausb. But with other flash drive from other vendor atausb works correctly (though it creates two nodes - afd0 and da0, which is strange and make things ambiguous). Though both flash drives can be used with umass driver. Both USB sticks are not from famous vendors and are not made very good, so their operation produces many SCSI errors, such as "Syncronize cache failed" and even "Medium not present" due to incomplete realization of command set(see http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=97174 for another example of such device) By the way, there is completely no documentation on atausb even in ata man page, this was already reported several times, and there is no possibility to compile a kernel module. I am sorry to say that there is a bug in GCC that prevents some parts of the USB code from functioning correctly. And don't ask how many hours were wasted debugging this. And yes, the code is plain simple C. I've gotten some help debugging this, but if more people want to help, send me a private e-mail, and I will give you the details on the exact problem so far. Is this an indication that we might have to remove -O2 from the kernel compilation flag? --HPS From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jan 27 10:37:04 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F33D616A400; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 10:37:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB10E13C46E; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 10:37:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (remko@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id l0RAb3sb020261; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 10:37:03 GMT (envelope-from remko@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from remko@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id l0RAb3QK020257; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 10:37:03 GMT (envelope-from remko) Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2007 10:37:03 GMT From: Remko Lodder Message-Id: <200701271037.l0RAb3QK020257@freefall.freebsd.org> To: remko@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: kern/75764: [umass] [patch] "umass0: Phase Error" - no device for USB HP DVD Writer 300c X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2007 10:37:04 -0000 Synopsis: [umass] [patch] "umass0: Phase Error" - no device for USB HP DVD Writer 300c Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-usb Responsible-Changed-By: remko Responsible-Changed-When: Sat Jan 27 10:36:46 UTC 2007 Responsible-Changed-Why: Hello USB team, this looks like a perfect task for you ;-) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=75764 From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jan 27 13:50:19 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EFD3116A405 for ; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:50:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D077A13C4B6 for ; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:50:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id l0RDoJcU038957 for ; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:50:19 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id l0RDoJ1d038952; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:50:19 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:50:19 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200701271350.l0RDoJ1d038952@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Gipsy Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8A1AF16A401 for ; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:44:52 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [69.147.83.33]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7B7C913C46C for ; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:44:52 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id l0RDiqd9089470 for ; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:44:52 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.13.1/8.13.1/Submit) id l0RDiqng089469; Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:44:52 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <200701271344.l0RDiqng089469@www.freebsd.org> Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:44:52 GMT From: Gipsy To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-3.0 Cc: Subject: usb/108427: QUIRK-SAMSUNG MP0402H X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2007 13:50:20 -0000 >Number: 108427 >Category: usb >Synopsis: QUIRK-SAMSUNG MP0402H >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-usb >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: change-request >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Sat Jan 27 13:50:19 GMT 2007 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Gipsy >Release: FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT >Organization: Gipsy >Environment: FreeBSD free.blueword.org 7.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #25: Wed Jan 24 18:25:28 CET 2007 Gipsy@free.blueword.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/FREE i386 >Description: can't mount the hdd. /dev/da0 doesn't exist. umass0: on uhub1 (probe0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): Uninitialized Transport 5:80246?
