I'll look for pciaccess. devel/libpci and sysutils/pciutils are not what configure is looking for. Also edit Makefile to disable building avivotool which uses pciaccess) % (apply the attached patch to add the pci id for the Mobility X1450) % ./autogen.sh % gmake # gmake install # (run xorgcfg without /etc/X11/xorg.conf) The last step detects the card, but it fails with warnings/errors about memory windows and unrecognized BIOS signatures (Xorg log file attached) On the bright side, VESA also seems to work fine with the xorg-server-snap port. I have no idea why that didn't compile on the main machine, and probably never will. Anyway it is back together again. It would be nice if there were a utility to spit out packages on a working machine, without going to the effort of rebuilding the port first, as my other workstation has everything operational. There must be such a utility hiding somewhere in the portupgrade code. On 7/27/07, MC wrote: > Hi > > I can't get xorg to build anymore. That is, the GL_FRONT colorbuffer is actually a buffer in main memory, rather than a window on your display. There are no window system or operating system dependencies. One potential application is to use Mesa as an off-line, batch-style renderer. Important note: maintainer is set to "x11@FreeBSD.org", because this port is very related to graphics/libGL - if the x11 team accepts it. >How-To-Repeat: I am going to submit a separate PR containing an update of graphics/mesa-demos to test it. >Fix: Please execute the following script: --- osmesa.shar begins here --- # This is a shell archive. If you need me to notify someone else, please let me know. I am working with a portsnap from Saturday July 28. I have run make clean before all compilation attempts and have also done a deinstall/reinstall on xproto. As far as I know I'm working from a default FreeBSD/ppc install, so if anything here appears non- standard, I don't know why it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :-) - Jeff ++++ Failure Message ++++ ... checking for X... gnome-config: not found configure: error: Package requirements (xproto) were not met. Since it was not already in the list of known PCI ids, I've added it. Unfortunately it doesn't want to run here so I'm stuck with VESA at the moment :( This is with pciaccess 0.8.0, avivo 0.0.999 (with --enable-pciaccess), and xorg-server-1.2.99.903 running on FreeBSD CURRENT 2007-07-30 I've added several attachments showing PCI layout, kernel/xorg messages, and driver/kernel patches. The kernel patch makes the kernel add a (dummy) /dev/dri/card0 device. I know that some PCI id patches are hackish, but they should be correct. When starting X with the new config-file, i.e. "X -config xorg.conf.new" it bails bails out with the following error: Fatal server error: could not open default font 'fixed' I've checked xorg.conf.new but could't find anything about a "fixed" font. BTW, when trying to run X without a config-file i.e. just "X" I get an error (EE) Failed to load module "pcidata" (module does not exist, 0) Fatal server error: Unable to load required base modules, Exiting... Dunno why these were left out when Installing the Xorg meta-port (i.e. x11/xorg as per UPDATING), but reinstalling them made this error disappear. -ewald From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Aug 4 09:20:26 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 46D0C16A419 for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 09:20:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd@ruomad.net) Received: from postfix1-g20.free.fr (postfix1-g20.free.fr [212.27.60.42]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2A6D013C468 for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 09:20:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd@ruomad.net) Received: from smtp2-g19.free.fr (smtp2-g19.free.fr [212.27.42.28]) by postfix1-g20.free.fr (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2DD5B182AF4C for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 10:51:18 +0200 (CEST) Received: from smtp2-g19.free.fr (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by smtp2-g19.free.fr (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8BFAE98F24 for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 10:51:15 +0200 (CEST) Received: from vil1.ruomad.net (vln78-1-82-238-160-33.fbx.proxad.net [82.238.160.33]) by smtp2-g19.free.fr (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6F55A98EEE for ; Sat, 4 Aug 2007 10:51:15 +0200 (CEST) Message-ID: <46B43E03.5060103@ruomad.net> Date: Sat, 04 Aug 2007 10:51:15 +0200 From: Bruno Damour User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.4 (X11/20070622) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Subject: Problem with french keyboard and gdm X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 04 Aug 2007 09:20:26 -0000 Hello, I have a strange problem that I did not manage to cope with : Each time I reboot, I come up to the login screen and my keyboard is still in us-mode. The problem is that the ALT keys are not working when using XkbLayout option in xorg.conf when I put the following lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Option "XkbLayout" "us,ir" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle" With these options, single ALT keys do not work, and I mean not just in changing the keyboard layout, but anywhere! For example, ALT-TAB which should change the current window does not work anymore. I have found out that in this case, i.e. using XkbLayout option, if I press both ALT keys at the same time, it'll do work! So, LEFTALT-RIGHTALT-TAB changes the current window, and LEFTALT-RIGHTALT-SHIFT changes the layout. I have no idea why, and I see no reason why, since I told X that the layout needs to be changed when I press only ONE of the ALT keys (and I have not mentioned which one, so both should be okay) and the SHIFT key. It's very troublesome, and I don't want to hold down both ALTs instead of just one of them. The same setting used to work when I was using Xfce 4.2 on top of X.org 6.9. Any ideas? Thanks a lot
