Yeah, I've tried those events and eventmask sysctls. I've read the devd man pages and don't know how to configure it to respond to key presses that don't change the sysctls states. The only keys that I have noticed that don't change the corresponding sysctls are the lcd brightness up and down, the volume up and down, and the mute. These keys actually work it is just the sysctls don't change. dev.acpi_ibm.0.lcd_brightness: 0 dev.acpi_ibm.0.volume: 7 dev.acpi_ibm.0.mute: 0 The lcd_brightness is always 0, the volume is always 7 and mute is always 0. Reading the mailing list for the linux driver for thinkpads make me think that Lenovo changed stuff for the T6x series. Here is the acpi dump. http://209.98.225.50/~olson/t61p.asl I'm starting to look at the ACPI Spec Rev 3.0b. What part of the asl file deals with the key presses? Thanks much for taking an interest. Setting hint.acpi.0.disabled="1" at the loader seems to fix the problem the submitter is seeing. This may well still be an issue with the pst driver, or ACPI, leave it up to -acpi to decide. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=121454 From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 19 13:30:03 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-acpi@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3D97F1065672 for ; Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:30:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 15B0E8FC20 for ; Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:30:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m2JDU21L003462 for ; Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:30:02 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m2JDU2sQ003459; Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:30:02 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:30:02 GMT Message-Id: <200803191330.m2JDU2sQ003459@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.org From: John Baldwin Cc: Subject: Re: kern/121454: [pst] Promise SuperTrak SX6000 does not load during boot in 7.0-RELEASE X-BeenThere: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: John Baldwin List-Id: ACPI and power management development List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:30:03 -0000 The following reply was made to PR kern/121454; it has been noted by GNATS. Hi Dan et al, what you experience is the same to what I see in my older z60m. A solution = would be great :) Anyway, you may find these=20 http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-mobile/2006-August/008948.html and http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-mobile/2006-August/008959.html useful wrt to handling devd and custom scripts... AFAIK, you don't need sys= ctl values to be changed for devd events to be triggered, but I could be wr= ong. cheers, _________________________ {Beto|Norberto|Numard} Meijome "Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough" Richard Feynman I speak for myself, not my employer.
