After seeing reboots caused by the XFree86-4 server, I've tried to build xorg server using the ports but failed: `make install` in /usr/ports/x11/xorg ended by saying ===> xorg-server-1.4_3,1 does not run on ia64 alpha, while you are running alpha. This is with xorg-server. I had to patch it up a little to build. In particular, you need to remove the thing that says it doesn't run on alpha, and you need to patch it to link itself against libio. I don't remember where you need to do the second part -- it will become apparent though. -Nathan From owner-freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Mar 17 11:06:59 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-alpha@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3C12C106566B for ; Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:06:59 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 32FF38FC28 for ; Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:06:59 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m2HB6xM9055017 for ; Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:06:59 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m2HB6w7x055013 for freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:06:58 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:06:58 GMT Message-Id: <200803171106.m2HB6w7x055013@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: gnats set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the Alpha List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:06:59 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems Serious problems S Tracker Resp.
