Running firefox (either locally or from a remote machine on the local display) causes the X server to lock up within a few seconds. This is with xf86-video-nv on a cheap GeForce 6200 LE card, no xorg.conf, the latest xorg and drivers as of today. The display freezes, Xorg gets stuck in a tight loop, doesn't react to key presses any longer, doesn't react to any signals (I need to SIGKILL it). Incidentally, the mouse pointer does not freeze. Xorg.0.log below. Once the server locks up, there is also a steady stream of tossed event which came in late mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping. lines, but presumably these are effect rather than cause. ---- X.Org X Server 1.4.0 Release Date: 5 September 2007 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT amd64 Current Operating System: FreeBSD lorvorc.mips.inka.de 8.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT #0: Mon Dec 24 22:56:10 CET 2007 naddy@lorvorc.mips.inka.de:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 Build Date: 28 December 2007 05:26:03PM Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. I have created an xorg.conf file (X -configure) and disabled acceleration for the card. This prevents the server from locking up, but is obviously only an emergency workaround. -- Christian "naddy" Weisgerber naddy@mips.inka.de From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Jan 7 11:07:12 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D80DA16A600 for ; Mon, 7 Jan 2008 11:07:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB6E813C467 for ; Mon, 7 Jan 2008 11:07:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m07B7CO4061970 for ; Mon, 7 Jan 2008 11:07:12 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m07B7B8V061966 for freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 7 Jan 2008 11:07:11 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2008 11:07:11 GMT Message-Id: <200801071107.m07B7B8V061966@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: gnats set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 07 Jan 2008 11:07:13 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems Serious problems S Tracker Resp. Often, this is due to a better alternative having become available and/or the cessation of development on the existing port. In some cases, ports are marked for removal because they fail to build and install correctly from their sources, or otherwise fail in operation. The ports, and the reason and date that they have been scheduled for removal, are listed below. If no one has stepped forward before that time to propose a way to fix the problems (such as via a PR), the ports will be deleted. portname: x11-fonts/XFree86-4-font100dpi description: XFree86-4 This goes with the fact that the path for '#include files' is not well specified. __Does it exist any way to set the right path (the one where wxgtk is installed) do that the '#include files' are found?. Now it compiles and works perfectly. > > Jose. Hi Gary, all, It is happening something extrange with my wxgtk, as I answered you in previous mail, it was working well, but now it stops working. When I type grep config ./wxgtk28/pkg-plist it shows an error message './wxgtk28/pkg-plist: No such file or directory' and when I compile a 'hello world' program (which before compiles right), it doesn't find wxgtk2-2.8-config --libs and wxgtk2-2.8-config --cxxflags. I don't know where is the problem, as I don't modify anything, just create a Makefile for another more complicated program, but no more changes done. I have uninstalled all ports and installed them again, but problem stays there. Could someone give me some idea to solve the problem?. Thanks a lot in advance. Jose.
