Doug -------- Original Message -------- Subject: INDEX on mirrors Date: Thu, 12 Mar 2009 12:00:58 +0100 From: Dominic Fandrey To: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org It seems that ftp.freebsd.org does load balancing and not all servers are in sync. I have repeatedly downloaded: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/packages-7-stable/INDEX And there seem to be 2 versions around, one from February 27 and one from March 06. I have a shell script that connects to the ftp via netcat and compares the age of the file to a local copy. If the local copy is outdated a fetch is started. Nice idea to safe traffic, but useless if you get the same outdated file, because servers are not in sync. _______________________________________________ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-ports-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" -- This .signature sanitized for your protection From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 13 09:51:17 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 37D551065676 for ; Fri, 13 Mar 2009 09:51:17 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from erwin@mail.droso.net) Received: from mail.droso.net (koala.ipv6.droso.net [IPv6:2001:6c8:6:c:20d:56ff:fe6f:f935]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BBFCE8FC15 for ; Fri, 13 Mar 2009 09:51:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from erwin@mail.droso.net) Received: by mail.droso.net (Postfix, from userid 1001) id D39F51CC47; Fri, 13 Mar 2009 10:51:14 +0100 (CET) Date: Fri, 13 Mar 2009 10:51:14 +0100 From: Erwin Lansing To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20090313095114.GB50269@droso.net> References: <49B9C990.5040206@FreeBSD.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="hNG1vEeyG8BCaHbQ" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <49B9C990.5040206@FreeBSD.org> X-Operating-System: FreeBSD/i386 7.1-PRERELEASE User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.18 (2008-05-17) Subject: Re: [Fwd: INDEX on mirrors] X-BeenThere: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "FreeBSD Distributions Hubs: mail sup ftp" List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 13 Mar 2009 09:51:17 -0000 --hNG1vEeyG8BCaHbQ Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Thu, Mar 12, 2009 at 07:48:48PM -0700, Doug Barton wrote: > Have y'all seen this? Unfortunately, there's not much else to do but to increase the speed of light or sit back and relax. (Un)fortunately, pointyhat is down for now, so no new packages will be uploaded and this will give it time to catch up. -erwin >=20 > Doug >=20 >=20 > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: INDEX on mirrors > Date: Thu, 12 Mar 2009 12:00:58 +0100 > From: Dominic Fandrey > To: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org >=20 > It seems that ftp.freebsd.org does load balancing and not all > servers are in sync.
