In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc4.2, which is much stricter than older versions. The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 6.x/7.x/-current with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: x11/libcapplet broken because: does not build on 8.X build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.9.20101005143154/libcapplet-1.4.0.5_13.log.bz2 (_Oct__6_17:48:40_UTC_2010) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=x11&portname=libcapplet If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Every effort has been made to make sure that these error reports really do correspond to a port that you maintain. However, due to the fact that this is an automated process, it may indeed generate false matches. If one of these errors fits that description, please forward this email to the author of this software, Mark Linimon , so that he can attempt to fix the problem in the future. Thanks for your efforts to help improve FreeBSD. Originally I came from re-building gettext as per /usr/ports/UPDATING, entry of 20100530 instructing to re-build gobject-introspection. However building gobject-introspection failed. I've put the logs on http://www.jenisch.at/gobject-introspection-build-error: o) build-error-and-gnomeanalyzer-output.txt: as the name implies a transcript of the failing build process as well as the output of gnomeanalyzer telling that it didn't find anything. o) config.log = /usr/ports/devel/gobject-introspection/work/gobject-introspection-0.6.14/config.log o) packages.txt: Output of ls /var/db/pkg Has anybody else also experienced these problems? Any core against it? (Can't continue with the portupgrade-round, since even a "pkgdb -F" flags gobjet-introspection for compilation) Thanks much in advance for your help, -ewald From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Oct 22 22:34:49 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5AF6B1065670; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:34:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kwm@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 30F058FC16; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:34:49 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o9MMYm6Z023584; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:34:48 GMT (envelope-from kwm@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from kwm@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o9MMYmrb023579; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:34:48 GMT (envelope-from kwm) Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:34:48 GMT Message-Id: <201010222234.o9MMYmrb023579@freefall.freebsd.org> To: IZ-FreeBSD0902-nospam@hs-karlsruhe.de, kwm@FreeBSD.org, gnome@FreeBSD.org From: kwm@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: ports/132304: ports/devel/dbus misses /var/db/dbus/machine-id in diskless environment X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:34:49 -0000 Synopsis: ports/devel/dbus misses /var/db/dbus/machine-id in diskless environment State-Changed-From-To: patched->closed State-Changed-By: kwm State-Changed-When: Fri Oct 22 22:34:31 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: Fix committed. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=132304 From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Oct 22 22:35:41 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6BD011065679; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:35:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kwm@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 428888FC18; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:35:41 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o9MMZfbI023702; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:35:41 GMT (envelope-from kwm@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from kwm@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o9MMZe16023698; Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:35:40 GMT (envelope-from kwm) Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:35:40 GMT Message-Id: <201010222235.o9MMZe16023698@freefall.freebsd.org> To: vvelox@vvelox.net, kwm@FreeBSD.org, gnome@FreeBSD.org From: kwm@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: ports/151331: net port: devel/dbus fix startup on diskless systems X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:35:41 -0000 Synopsis: net port: devel/dbus fix startup on diskless systems State-Changed-From-To: patched->closed State-Changed-By: kwm State-Changed-When: Fri Oct 22 22:35:01 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: Update committed to the FreeBSD ports.
