I believe that all headers important for the usermode application compilation from the base system, were converted to providing ILP32/LP64 correct definitions on x86. This was mostly done by merging the i386 and amd64 version and moving the resulting common header to include/x86 directory. The bulk of the work was performed by Tijl Coosemans. The csu object files and libraries are already there in /usr/lib32. I did not verified if the stock build of gcc is aware of library location for -m32 though. We do not have ports support for multiarch, but the base system is finally provides the neccessary foundation. --JTJurzw6uhQUpwEQ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.20 (FreeBSD) iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJRuArGAAoJEJDCuSvBvK1Ba/AP/jFEasgQd+0sB0zGkuCjmoRb oMxgqJE6+gRmB8tn8IXPSCG6B95MTFkIK3RYjYE2cUOQlFHRR7qjk/f64/3G9U1i 09AbIeS1cb8ms0xQm81xAi9ec8z3T5kKBwEYKYjfGk3BUfolCfZqEUW+MG4qS4GG 1EUSa2J0RbT57vvtyEmhRgZTOeX4FOa5Jmwxg1d59xSPJkO9CGJWjYlDSHOL9OCU 6G2MJnZOtjffSSxDzPt7H5YXU0RoZDkTqaNrTeFNAeNUj5O38DcVKlxI1bQL8YXc qZFQV/ijBuv1PI/MfdFUJm4/ftqBCjOEX769E56XSyWtMInlCj52MbS4vpWY9Nc6 F8J/i35XJtg+52NqV+gaP2O5Z2A4Mnyv2DmNsT/GkOZF2TOq5OmyCpaH9GUrv2vM MhS8fDdtU6NjExEkqfN9hFvJRZLOBfrX8lDx/hACGQ1Btc+LRFdsm6ySQ6+602Yr mQXT4Gq1O1nGhM12m1CvuvovuTqUljDZuvniKlM41t173Hv5+7djpPXNrltT7Xzg AFai9KOHrd5913JLZneDlj/xOrv/XpoBg9cIR64Gh8m3u6+MimYhY/D2aoOB+Bjl +HphtDBgczhCiqaNQRAX3vvH8rmkc0wTXHBq1FoIFkYkJ6yH0ls5GQsfYAkTwH9Z HFqFWLKgIL6xmv0jW+BK =PYvc -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --JTJurzw6uhQUpwEQ-- From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jun 12 18:20:02 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: amd64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B0AF34E3; Wed, 12 Jun 2013 18:20:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from freebsd-current.sentex.ca (freebsd-current.sentex.ca [64.7.128.98]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5E99418A8; Wed, 12 Jun 2013 18:20:02 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freebsd-current.sentex.ca (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freebsd-current.sentex.ca (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id r5CIK1JN074051; Wed, 12 Jun 2013 14:20:01 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: (from tinderbox@localhost) by freebsd-current.sentex.ca (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id r5CIK1eE074034; Wed, 12 Jun 2013 18:20:01 GMT (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Date: Wed, 12 Jun 2013 18:20:01 GMT Message-Id: <201306121820.r5CIK1eE074034@freebsd-current.sentex.ca> X-Authentication-Warning: freebsd-current.sentex.ca: tinderbox set sender to FreeBSD Tinderbox using -f Sender: FreeBSD Tinderbox From: FreeBSD Tinderbox To: FreeBSD Tinderbox , , Subject: [head tinderbox] failure on amd64/amd64 Precedence: bulk X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 12 Jun 2013 18:20:02 -0000 TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:19 - tinderbox 2.10 running on freebsd-current.sentex.ca TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:19 - FreeBSD freebsd-current.sentex.ca 8.3-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 8.3-PRERELEASE #0: Mon Mar 26 13:54:12 EDT 2012 des@freebsd-current.sentex.ca:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:19 - starting HEAD tinderbox run for amd64/amd64 TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:19 - cleaning the object tree TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:19 - /usr/local/bin/svn stat /src TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:24 - At svn revision 251658 TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - building world TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - CROSS_BUILD_TESTING=YES TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX=/obj TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/sbin TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - SRCCONF=/dev/null TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - TARGET=amd64 TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - TARGET_ARCH=amd64 TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - TZ=UTC TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - __MAKE_CONF=/dev/null TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - cd /src TB --- 2013-06-12 15:30:25 - /usr/bin/make -B buildworld >>> Building an up-to-date make(1) >>> World build started on Wed Jun 12 15:30:32 UTC 2013 >>> Rebuilding the temporary build tree >>> stage 1.1: legacy release compatibility shims >>> stage 1.2: bootstrap tools >>> stage 2.1: cleaning up the object tree >>> stage 2.2: rebuilding the object tree >>> stage 2.3: build tools >>> stage 3: cross tools >>> stage 4.1: building includes >>> stage 4.2: building libraries >>> stage 4.3: make dependencies >>> stage 4.4: building everything [...] *** Error code 1 Stop. make: stopped in /src *** Error code 1 Stop. make: stopped in /src *** Error code 1 Stop in /src. I remember somebody complained that xhci(4) cannot attach on the Macs with the diagnostic about missing PRT entry for routing the legacy interrupt. As if Apple does not care about proper legacy routing. Hopefully, use of MSI-X would help there too. Last message appearing at the console is "usbus0: 12Mbps Full Speed USB v1.0" Already tried the following: o) booting verbose vs. non-verbose o) instead of booting into the installer go for single user mode o) check variable settings - interestingly enough "kern.eventtimer.choice" is empty o) tried booting with modified "kern.eventtimer.periodic" settings (0 vs. 1) Whatever I tried the system freezes at exactly the same situation. I ask as the default memory test on 9.1 can take a long time to test the ram . Can you boot of the box with the following option enabled ? "hw.memtest.tests=0" and let me know what the result it. Also have you applied the latest HP firmware updates via SPP 2013-02 to the box ? If not can you do this and let us know if this improves the situation. >Description:
Upon trying to install FreeBSD 9.1 amd64 on a HP Proliant DL580G5 the syste= m freezes/hangs. Last message appearing at the console is
"usbus0: 12Mbps Full Speed USB v1.0"

Already tried the following:
o) booting verbose vs. non-verbose
o) instead of booting into the installer go for single user mode
o) check variable settings - interestingly enough "kern.eventtimer.cho= ice" is empty
o) tried booting with modified "kern.eventtimer.periodic" setting= s (0 vs. 1)

Whatever I tried the system freezes at exactly the same situation.

I also posted a message to freebsd-questions on June 6 2013 - subject "= ;Panic/reboot while trying to install 9.1 on a HP Proliant DL580G5" bu= t the tips that came back as an answer also didn' help.

For your reference I posted a couple of screenshots so you can see that'= ;s going on:

Thanks much in advance for your help.

(BTW, the server hardware definitely isn't the problem - this box ran a= s a VMware server for several years without any problems)
