Since FreeBSD has new USB stack, freeglut normally doesn't build on FreeBSD 8 (yet). To workaround this a small patch adds one include file and comments out content of one function (only leaves return NULL). This might cause side effects. Joysticks do not work, and there might be ports that do not compile or applications that crash because of this. Do not hesitate to contact x11@FreeBSD.org if there are any issues and side effects because of this. ===> Returning to build of chromium-32.0.1700.102 ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libcups.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libevent-1.4.so - not found ===> Verifying for libevent-1.4.so in /usr/ports/devel/libevent ===> Installing existing package /packages/All/libevent-1.4.14b_3.txz Installing libevent-1.4.14b_3... done ===> Returning to build of chromium-32.0.1700.102 ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libgcrypt.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libpci.so - not found ===> Verifying for libpci.so in /usr/ports/devel/libpci ===> Installing existing package /packages/All/libpci-3.2.1.txz Installing libpci-3.2.1... done ===> Returning to build of chromium-32.0.1700.102 ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libexecinfo.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libatk-1.0.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libdconf.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libgconf-2.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libglib-2.0.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libpcre.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libgtk-x11-2.0.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libIDL-2.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libxml2.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libxslt.so - not found ===> Verifying for libxslt.so in /usr/ports/textproc/libxslt ===> Installing existing package /packages/All/libxslt-1.1.28_1.txz Installing libxslt-1.1.28_1... done ===> Returning to build of chromium-32.0.1700.102 ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libORBit-2.so - found ===> chromium-32.0.1700.102 depends on shared library: libpango-1.0.so - found =========================================================================== =================================================== ===> Configuring for chromium-32.0.1700.102 cd /wrkdirs/usr/ports/www/chromium/work/chromium-32.0.1700.102 && /usr/bin/env TMPDIR="/tmp" CC=/usr/local/bin/clang33 CXX=/usr/local/bin/clang++33 GYP_GENERATORS=ninja GYP_DEFINES="use_cups=1 use_system_yasm=1 use_system_libxml=1 use_system_ffmpeg=0 use_system_libusb=1 use_system_libevent=1 use_system_libvpx=0 linux_breakpad=0 linux_strip_binary=1 linux_use_tcmalloc=0 linux_use_heapchecker=0 test_isolation_mode=noop clang_use_chrome_plugins=0 disable_nacl=1 enable_webrtc=1 enable_openmax=1 enable_one_click_signin=1 werror= no_gc_sections=1 os_ver=803000 prefix_dir=/usr/local python_ver=2.7 google_api_key=AIzaSyBsp9n41JLW8jCokwn7vhoaMejDFRd1mp8 google_default_client_id=996322985003.apps.googleusercontent.com google_default_client_secret=IR1za9-1VK0zZ0f_O8MVFicn ffmpeg_branding=Chrome proprietary_codecs=1 use_pulseaudio=0 disable_sse2=1 buildtype=Official clang=1" CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -fno-stack-protector -Wno-unknown-warning-option -fno-strict-aliasing" CPPFLA GS="" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -fno-stack-protector -Wno-unknown-warning-option -fno-strict-aliasing" LDFLAGS=" -B/usr/local/bin" TMPDIR="/tmp" PYTHON="/usr/local/bin/python2.7" PKG_CONFIG=pkgconf AR=/usr/bin/ar TMPDIR="/tmp" SHELL=/bin/sh CONFIG_SHELL=/bin/sh /usr/local/bin/python2.7 ./build/gyp_chromium chrome/chrome.gyp --depth . In particular, now that Capsicum comes as standard in FreeBSD, I'm interested in running Chromium with Capsicum enabled. Robert Watson (my supervisor, and whose office is opposite mine) did an initial version a few years ago (https://github.com/rwatson/chromium-capsicum) but these patches were not upstreamed. Are there any patches around for the latest port/plans for adding Capsicum support? If not, then I would be very much interested in helping in this regard. For example, when I start it, I get a white screen for upwards of two minutes or more but eventually, I get a popup that says the page is unresponsive and I end up killing that page load. On other occasions, when I navigate to a new website, I get the same behaviour as described above. I observed the same issue with the previous release of chrome. It seemed to start with the previous release. On the same machine, I've installed Firefox and do not see any of these issues whatsoever. thanks John Rushford jjr@alisa.org
