Desktop Environments (As of 30 Mar 2016) Section 5.7.1. GNOME describes how to add proc, dbus_enable: GNOME requires /proc to be mounted. Add this line to /etc/fstab to mount th= is file system automatically during system startup: proc /proc procfs rw 0 0 GNOME uses D-Bus and HAL for a message bus and hardware abstraction. These applications are automatically installed as dependencies of GNOME. Enable t= hem in /etc/rc.conf so they will be started when the system boots: dbus_enable=3D"YES" hald_enable=3D"YES" I think that KDE requires this as well as it uses part of the GNOME Libary.= =20 I believe it was present in earlier versions but not in the current one. If you start KDE but do not have dbus enabled it exits with an error messag= e. The KDE port also has dbus as a dependency. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Wed Mar 30 14:06:32 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7D112AE3A97 for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:06:32 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from info@hospiser.co.za) Received: from barn.cedar.relay.mailchannels.net (barn.cedar.relay.mailchannels.net [23.83.210.11]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 3620C1861 for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:06:30 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from info@hospiser.co.za) X-Sender-Id: webafrica|x-authuser|info@hospiser.co.za Received: from relay.mailchannels.net (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by relay.mailchannels.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 69B25100B86 for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:06:29 +0000 (UTC) Received: from srv22.hostserv.co.za (ip-10-229-11-165.us-west-2.compute.internal [10.229.11.165]) by relay.mailchannels.net (Postfix) with ESMTPA id 55BA41006FB for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:06:28 +0000 (UTC) X-Sender-Id: webafrica|x-authuser|info@hospiser.co.za Received: from srv22.hostserv.co.za (srv22.hostserv.co.za [10.124.237.163]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384) by 0.0.0.0:2500 (trex/5.6.10); Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:06:29 +0000 X-MC-Relay: Bad X-MailChannels-SenderId: webafrica|x-authuser|info@hospiser.co.za X-MailChannels-Auth-Id: webafrica X-MC-Loop-Signature: 1459346789022:3685682347 X-MC-Ingress-Time: 1459346789021 Received: from [41.162.59.122] (port=64837 helo=LAPTOP-1P0GSMVS) by srv22.hostserv.co.za with esmtpsa (TLSv1.2:DHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:256) (Exim 4.86_1) (envelope-from ) id 1alGlM-003Cdz-LM for freebsd-doc@freebsd.org; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 16:06:24 +0200 From: "Jaco" Subject: Google and your Business_1 To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Sender: info@hospiser.co.za Reply-To: info@hospiser.co.za Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2016 16:06:21 +0200 Priority: urgent X-Priority: 2 Importance: high Message-ID: <924361568512453@hospiser-co-za> X-AuthUser: info@hospiser.co.za Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.21 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.21 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:06:32 -0000 The Business Owner. =20 We help companies to feature on page 1 of Google without having to buy= ad words which could be a very costly exercise. First, how can the user tell if they need UEFI? For a standard, it is remarkably loose. The vendors won't tell the users, there are no tell-tale identification marks shown during boot. The setup screens aren't standardized. At present, only 64-bit UEFI computers (the great majority) will work with FreeBSD uefi images. And they will only boot into a 64-bit version of FreeBSD. As far as I know, the uefi images will actually also boot on a BIOS computer, so that eases a restriction. And there is the issue of disabling secure boot. And most (but not all) UEFI computers are capable of legacy booting a normal BIOS-type disk. Provided you figure out how to enable that. "CSM" (compatibility support mode) is a standard term, but it is not always used. The short version: Normal images are used to install FreeBSD on a BIOS computer or a computer with UEFI "CSM" enabled. Installing in UEFI mode requires a uefi image. That's not hard to include, but will it help the user to decide which image to download? Per DES: The try_first_pass option has never worked. It's never been implemented, in any FreeBSD version. Like, ever. The code isn't even there. This isn't an ex-parrot, it's a wholly imaginary one. It needs to be removed back to the beginning of time. Should also be removed from the pam_unix entries in /etc/pam.d/* files, but that would require me to fill out an entirely new bug report. And probably = make a patch. Making a patch would be SO MUCH more fun than writing a PAM book... but I'm going back to work like a good boy. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Sat Apr 2 00:26:33 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 609CCAEB1D1 for ; Sat, 2 Apr 2016 00:26:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 517191A02 for ; Sat, 2 Apr 2016 00:26:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u320QXfN063792 for ; Sat, 2 Apr 2016 00:26:33 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 208460] New Commercial Vendor Submission: Date: Sat, 02 Apr 2016 00:26:33 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Component: Website X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: glenn.graham@networkinformation.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_id short_desc product version rep_platform op_sys bug_status bug_severity priority component assigned_to reporter Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.21 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 02 Apr 2016 00:26:33 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D208460 Bug ID: 208460 Summary: New Commercial Vendor Submission: Product: Documentation Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Website Assignee: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Reporter: glenn.graham@networkinformation.com NAME: GLENN GRAHAM COMPANY: CENTRIX TECHNOLOGY GROUP INC.
