An example I hit was with graphics/mesa-dri. It needs py-mako both to build and to run. It is declared as a BUILD_DEPENDS (for appropriate GPUs). The problem is that it is that a build dependency and py27-mako does not show mesa-dri as a dependent port, so looks like it may be deleted. Thi is common because, before the pkg system, if a dependency was present at build-time, it was also there at run-time. For functionality, this is still true, but yields a vroken dependency tree. If I add a RUN_DEPENDS to the mesa-dri, py27-mako does show that mesa-dri is dependent, although mesa-dri still does not show py-maku as a dependency. (I don't understand this.) I htink this has resulted in many of the broken dependency trees I have hit on and I suspect that there are quite a few of them. In any case, I think that it should be be clear that a dependency that is needed both to build a port and to run it must be declared as both a run and build dependency. Now I need to stare at the .Mk files for a bit and and see if I can figure out why a RUN_DEPENDS does not get a listing as a dependency from "pkg info -d". -- Kevin Oberman, Part time kid herder and retired Network Engineer E-mail: rkoberman@gmail.com PGP Fingerprint: D03FB98AFA78E3B78C1694B318AB39EF1B055683 From owner-freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Sun Oct 7 05:29:39 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ports@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9484910B1F4D for ; Sun, 7 Oct 2018 05:29:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dan@langille.org) Received: from clavin2.langille.org (clavin2.langille.org [199.233.228.197]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "clavin.langille.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 3126274C6B for ; Sun, 7 Oct 2018 05:29:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dan@langille.org) Received: from (clavin2.int.langille.org (clavin2.int.unixathome.org [10.4.7.7]) (Authenticated sender: hidden) with ESMTPSA id C9E3936CFB for ; Sun, 7 Oct 2018 05:29:31 +0000 (UTC) From: Dan Langille Content-Type: multipart/signed; boundary="Apple-Mail=_6E8FB624-F153-49DD-92E9-4ACCC4AF4235"; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; micalg=pgp-sha512 Reply-To: Dan Langille Mime-Version: 1.0 (Mac OS X Mail 11.5 \(3445.9.1\)) Subject: Re: FreshPorts - CONFLICTS Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2018 01:29:20 -0400 References: To: FreeBSD Ports In-Reply-To: Message-Id: <39370BE1-C313-46B9-9968-31DE439B9C41@langille.org> X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.3445.9.1) X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.27 X-BeenThere: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.27 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting software to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 07 Oct 2018 05:29:39 -0000 --Apple-Mail=_6E8FB624-F153-49DD-92E9-4ACCC4AF4235 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > On Oct 5, 2018, at 10:56 PM, Dan Langille wrote: >=20 > A short while ago I added CONFLICTS to FreshPorts (see = https://news.freshports.org/2018/09/26/adding-and-populating-conflicts/). >=20 > Tonight I added conflict matches to https://dev.freshports.org so if = you know a port with CONFLICTS please have a look. >=20 > For example: >=20 > https://dev.freshports.org/security/openssl/ conflicts with >=20 > * libressl > * libressl-devel > * openssl-devel > * openssl111 >=20 >=20 > https://dev.freshports.org/sysutils/bacula-server conflicts with: >=20 > * bacula5-server >=20 > Thank you. In this particular case, the make command was root@www:/usr/ports/graphics/gdk-pixbuf # make -DBATCH DISABLE_VULNERABILITIES=yes MAKE_JOBS_UNSAFE=yes FORCE_PKG_REGISTER=yes with an overall goal of compiling www/epiphany, or any graphical browser that works. Xfce4 managed to compile and work, but it didn't build a browser. What's the customary way to resolve conflicts of this type? It would be OK to break older ports if necessary; I just want to get a web browser that runs and don't need a desktop environment. TWM is enough for my purposes. When I try to create file on the mount receive the following error: cp /var/log/smbnet.log . cp: ./smbnet.log: Input/output error The error message which I receive in debug mode is: 2018-10-08 14:49:42.220 srv(24576)->smb_conn_srv_listen: process query=13, query_len=8 2018-10-08 14:49:42.221 srv(24576)->smb_conn_srv_fstat: errno=22, Invalid argument After this error the file is created with zero size e.g. empty. I can read and delete the file. I found this bug report in ubuntu - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=892841 and this patch - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=1;bug=892841;filename=0001-fix-opening-a-file-with-O_CREAT-and-reading-created-.patch;msg=10 But unfortunately this workaround leads to another error (e.g. call not implemented). A month ago everything worked fine, so I'm suspecting changing default samba from 46 to 47 (https://reviews.freebsd.org/D16904) as the reason for this. The compiler is system-clang (so clang 6 as cc). [I experiment with more modern compilers and toolchains for some powerpc family members.] -r339076 predates the openssl update in head. The port build is via ports-mgmt/poudriere-devel . Note: size_t is unsigned long (64 bits) while int is 32 bits for powerpc64. I've no clue if this is supposed to work, be blocked as broken, or what. It's a bug as the 4th argument being size_t predates FreeBSD. In FreeBSD base -Werror is default but ports discourage it due to churn. In NSS -Werror was enabled since 3.21 but only for Clang or GCC >= 4.8. For now, the plan is to keep -Werror to avoid more facepalm situations. Anyway, fixed in r481895. Thanks for reporting. If devel/llvm* ever enable enough powerpc64 support they would reserve vec_step too. (I've not checked if this is already happening.) Unfortunately, various devel/*gcc and lang/gcc* use that name in gcc/tree-vect-loop.c and so on powerpc64 those various *gcc* fail to build. The below just avoids the extra reserved word by renaming each non-comment vec_step in gcc/tree-vect-loop.c to vec_step_renamed . This has allowed me to build the example *gcc* 's in poudriere-devel on powerpc64 (head -r339076 based). One could imagine sed'ing or otherwise processing gcc/tree-vect-loop.c instead of having patch files. In the examples the original gcc/tree-vect-loop.c files are not the same: one patch for all *gcc* would not work. # svnlite status /usr/ports/devel/powerpc64-gcc/files/ | more ? /usr/ports/devel/powerpc64-gcc/files/patch-gcc_tree-vect-loop.c # svnlite status /usr/ports/lang/gcc8/files/ | more ? /usr/ports/lang/gcc8/files/patch-gcc_tree-vect-loop.c # more /usr/ports/devel/powerpc64-gcc/files/patch-gcc_tree-vect-loop.c --- gcc/tree-vect-loop.c.orig 2017-03-28 15:35:56 UTC +++ gcc/tree-vect-loop.c @@ -3832,7 +3832,7 @@ get_initial_def_for_induction (gimple *iv_phi) edge pe =3D loop_preheader_edge (loop);
