List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2019 05:38:38 -0000 Hello, I have at home the problem that all my Wifi devices (four FreeBSD laptops, one Ubuntu laptop and three Ubuntu mobile phones) can connect fine to my AP. Only one can't anymore (it worked fine in the past but since some months can't associate anymore). The association requests are always rejected with a package CTRL-EVENT-ASSOC-REJECT with 'status_code=1'. The device in question can connect to any other AP I know of in public or in my company, but not to the two AVM FRITZ!Box WLAN 3170 and 7430 (I bought the 7430 only to verify the problem, both AVM devices reject the association). Do we have any tool in FreeBSD to monitor/debug this problem between the device in question and the AP? Any other ideas? I have here a debug log of the wpa_supplicant collected in the device itself, maybe some expert has an idea what the problem could be. I tried to enable from View --> [x] Wireless Toolbar but this gives an error about "Failed to initialize ws80211" in the GUI and I can not set the channel or Frequency. Is this not possible with FreeBSD? In this case I'd have to look for a Linux laptop or even a Windows one (which I'd hate). So, you don't set the monitor flag like you do on linux. you create a monitor VAP instead or you just use tcpdump with the right flags. Try: tcpdump -ni wlan0 -y IEEE802_11_PROTO That'll put the NIC into monitor mode on the current channel, even in station mode, and let you do normalt raffic as well as get promiscuous traffic into tcpdump. -adrian From owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org Thu Jul 18 07:12:03 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-wireless@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0CE40A1545 for ; Thu, 18 Jul 2019 07:12:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vbotka@gmail.com) Received: from mail-wm1-x329.google.com (mail-wm1-x329.google.com [IPv6:2a00:1450:4864:20::329]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (128/128 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (2048 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "GTS CA 1O1" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5ECDA7605A for ; Thu, 18 Jul 2019 07:12:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vbotka@gmail.com) Received: by mail-wm1-x329.google.com with SMTP id u25so14094106wmc.4 for ; Thu, 18 Jul 2019 00:12:01 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20161025; h=date:from:to:cc:subject:message-id:in-reply-to:references :organization:mime-version; bh=Nc2s5QTrxCuUaxkxOhZslOyRZVR6aiqY5/skD8jUoG0=; b=oVnHIhfStFBSAI9puPrrej+ErvX9BiKGmGFaP7hPA13QE5QgyaS9e7Gzhxs1iQZiBE yySTcHrakTMgJ0Ss6+4jXvPVCi6RWdaQ5RPGgBvS4DQZjrhVQpalW4nSCAHuNBKhXttQ jS1FAxzwaddu8onEs55Cwa42P1YTYLdtjUVz7HPyaTOFOvlw1KBx+Y4R+gXzBQw1wWNP YB0SlgG/OJ1fkCrCoFCd0KaH8zUsLTnkjOuYNSqZ98pMmSq9ZW9eAwoY4LO1cPyJywWt Pk4/dMbKOWd6ku0co91mEOMOdj8fzSor0B6TGy2G39hWut313c0oLZALJbPSwFUj4Vg2 puLQ== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:date:from:to:cc:subject:message-id:in-reply-to :references:organization:mime-version; bh=Nc2s5QTrxCuUaxkxOhZslOyRZVR6aiqY5/skD8jUoG0=; b=N8nCMwgQsq9yCaCvSQ3pV7axzX8ZMChGxcMHwWW8n74padEC62h1KvLx0AYGn1kgyA zypIEmqoVGzpY79mEryugkCx78HSQ58Fb+ccXLsrKjSvBAvrFH/YqUlhH3Vb0xVgoLN5 ga+b8145lHV0KCKGkXchQATg2MPQN10CvHTpu9BKQSaj9Ykp5d2GBMMNJn96QF4ec7Cv w1Y4WvYjYX31p6Lk0Wvy3Zv9MZYzHHv67Q6eXgTfr2CeLRMbPqBCqvkOSGhQNBSApmAt qBYeX2zeF8wYjk3Nj980WgpZBh55xr9M562Aogdp5PCR26JZTr2FwLm0z3QQ49cMoFjb zpbw== X-Gm-Message-State: APjAAAW0o3WJF7KjNrRX34XqyFyLetQuStPkS5XJsZRYh0a3zpBtUPew vpzI89iUqzsfR46YPFHfEkU= X-Google-Smtp-Source: APXvYqw6pjKm68EkFGudZ14IKs0odMup6MEx/lC9ogzK7K2x/z326l1oEliHadQwmPyeR7rHDP3b3A== X-Received: by 2002:a1c:c747:: with SMTP id x68mr40596069wmf.138.1563433919643; Thu, 18 Jul 2019 00:11:59 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost (92-245-202-144.satronet.sk. I think, > ... This morning I captured the IEEE802_11_RADIO traffic with the above tcpdump cmd and used wireshark to filter out the trafic for the connecting phone. Details below. There are only "Probe Request" broadcasts or "Authentication" requests to the my AP (MAC addr 00:1c:4a:06:17:f5) from the phone, but the AP never answers. Only sometimes another AP (SSID=FRITZ!Box 7530) gives an answer which the phone ignores. Why the AP with MAC addr 00:1c:4a:06:17:f5 does not answer?
