Zeeb" Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N Hi, I've got an AX210 chip in a Framework laptop that I've (hackily) gotten working with iwlwifi tonight... as with some other reports, the firmware dies in a terrible fire with the stock wpa configuration. Investigation lead to the following chain of observations: 1. Without WPA at play, I can trigger a scan and it works 2. Starting WPA, the firmware dies. 3. I can avoid it by setting ap_scan=0 in wpa_supplicant.conf and just triggering a scan manually, e.g., in /etc/rc.d/wpa_supplicant's wpa_poststart 4. I can hack around it altogether without modifying the service by just never passing ssids into the scan request in wpa_supplicant's bsd driver: https://people.freebsd.org/~kevans/iwlhack.diff -- of course, then it doesn't consult the cache... but at least my wifi works. :-) I'm sticking with #4 for now because that' the most maintainable of the local hacks that I've put together, but it'd be nice to understand what's going on... a cursory review of the path from net80211 through to iwlwifi didn't seem to turn up anything too hinky. I haven't tested whether there's some difference in specific ssid vs. wildcard ssid. Thoughts? I’ve got some good news for you; I got mine working on Friday as the wiki page change tells you: https://wiki.freebsd.org/action/diff/WiFi/Iwlwifi?action=diff&rev1=33&rev2=34 There are two blockers left so that I can get at least everything but the driver code into main. Hope this will be happening during this week and with that AX210 will hopefully also work better for you. Glad you found a workaround for yourself in the meantime (though I don’t fully understand why that doesn’t freak the firmware out either, given it should in theory from what I understand the real issue being now). /bz From nobody Sun Oct 24 21:00:47 2021 X-Original-To: wireless@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3795C181102B for ; Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Hcr8c3Xxzz4md7 for ; Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:48 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 607F61C4B3 for ; Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:47 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 19OL0l0F080106 for ; Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:47 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from bugzilla@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 19OL0l0J080105 for wireless@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:47 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202110242100.19OL0l0J080105@kenobi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: bugzilla set sender to bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for wireless@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:47 +0000 List-Id: Discussions List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-wireless List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="16351092473.9dFb2e.76593" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N --16351092473.9dFb2e.76593 Date: Sun, 24 Oct 2021 21:00:47 +0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id).
