Rod, Before you get started again, please just remember that I do this for fun :-) CTM is still widely regarded as black magic, and I don't know if anybody actually have ever read the mkCTM script. I keep trying to get somebody besides myself to look into the code (by starving my users with a "nice feature, when do you do it ?" every time they ask me for something :-). And it seems like I'm having some luck now. The mkCTM script is a prototype. It will go away. I have the 'C' version at home, I still need to get it up to par with the mkCTM version. The only reason the mkCTM script is in the CVS tree, is that I might get hit by the famous truck, and it would indeed look silly without the generating software. I actually feel a bit bad about having code this quality in the tree, so I restrict the commits and the messages to this particular directory to a minmum. Are you interested in CTM, and how to control the delta generation ? I'll be more than happy to tell you anything you want to know, and a good deal more too :-) -- Poul-Henning Kamp -- TRW Financial Systems, Inc. I hit you on this one as you are starting to do this more and more often. I can sight more of these if you like, but a) you wasted far more time doing this reply than it would have taken to write a proper commit message and b) I don't feel like wasting my time showing that your frequency of very breif commit messages has increased over the last few weeks. These log messages go out to the user base, it is important to keep them informed as to what the ``bug fixes'' are so they don't report a bug we have already commited the fix for! -- Rod Grimes rgrimes@gndrsh.aac.dev.com Accurate Automation Company Custom computers for FreeBSD From owner-cvs-usrsbin Tue Mar 28 22:51:27 1995 Return-Path: cvs-usrsbin-owner Received: (from majordom@localhost) by freefall.cdrom.com (8.6.10/8.6.6) id WAA10282 for cvs-usrsbin-outgoing; Tue, 28 Mar 1995 22:51:27 -0800 Received: from ref.tfs.com (ref.tfs.com [140.145.254.251]) by freefall.cdrom.com (8.6.10/8.6.6) with ESMTP id WAA10268; Tue, 28 Mar 1995 22:51:17 -0800 Received: (from phk@localhost) by ref.tfs.com (8.6.8/8.6.6) id WAA07431; Tue, 28 Mar 1995 22:51:05 -0800 From: Poul-Henning Kamp Message-Id: <199503290651.WAA07431@ref.tfs.com> Subject: Re: cvs commit: src/usr.sbin/ctm/mkCTM ctm_conf.ports-cur mkCTM To: rgrimes@gndrsh.aac.dev.com (Rodney W. Also add proper declaration for ether_ntohost(). (Does anyone know what header file is supposed to contain the declarations for the ether_addr functions? I can't them in the SunOS includes anywhere.) This is because when it checks the return value for the attempted open() of /var/yp/binding/DOMAIN.VERSION, it tests only for a value of -1. This is bogus because open() doesn't return -1 in this case. Now it checks for < 0 instead. This should make life easier for many NIS-newbies who would otherwise be left scratching their heads wondering why the NIS client stuff won't work despite their best efforts. ("I set the domain name on my machine, and /var/yp exists, but when I start ypbind and try a 'ypcat passwd,' it says it can't bind to a server for this domain! Please help!") *long, heavy sigh* From owner-cvs-usrsbin Sat Apr 1 19:39:29 1995 Return-Path: cvs-usrsbin-owner Received: (from majordom@localhost) by freefall.cdrom.com (8.6.10/8.6.6) id TAA21401 for cvs-usrsbin-outgoing; Sat, 1 Apr 1995 19:39:29 -0800 Received: from godzilla.zeta.org.au (godzilla.zeta.org.au [203.2.228.34]) by freefall.cdrom.com (8.6.10/8.6.6) with ESMTP id TAA21336; Sat, 1 Apr 1995 19:37:48 -0800 Received: (from bde@localhost) by godzilla.zeta.org.au (8.6.9/8.6.9) id NAA29929; Sun, 2 Apr 1995 13:36:18 +1000 Date: Sun, 2 Apr 1995 13:36:18 +1000 From: Bruce Evans Message-Id: <199504020336.NAA29929@godzilla.zeta.org.au> To: CVS-commiters@freefall.cdrom.com, cvs-usrsbin@freefall.cdrom.com, wpaul@freefall.cdrom.com Subject: Re: cvs commit: src/usr.sbin/ypbind ypbind.c Sender: cvs-usrsbin-owner@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk >wpaul 95/04/01 19:10:58 > Modified: usr.sbin/ypbind ypbind.c > Log: > Fix long standing bogosity in ypbind: if /var/yp/binding doesn't exist, > ypbind is supposed to create it but it doesn't. It is also spec'ed to return a non-negative integer so checking for < 0 is safer, but I prefer -1 for consistency with syscalls like read(). You're right, of course. But I've seen ypbind goof up in this situation before -- I know I have! Now I feel *really* silly. -Bill
