I'm trying to install 3C503-16 (Etherlink II/16) card in the PCI (SIS) machine running 2.0.5-RELEASE. Looks like driver requires shared memory to be present on the card. however memory test fails (in dos) when I enable shared ram at C8000, but test passes ok when shared ram is disabled. so the question is whether PCI/ISA bridge is at fault (I'm getting a message from freebsd telling me: pci0:5: vendor=0x1039, device=0x496, class=bridge [not supported] ) However I wonder why it fails on RAM test in dos anyway? Thanx for any clues. Please e-mail directly. I've replaced Adaptec2940 with aha1542 on my system after that I've got the F1 FreeBSd F2 Dos F? prompt, F1 and F2 did nothing, so I decided to get rif of bootmanager with fdisk /mbr in dos, now I'm getting "Missing operating system" :-( I doesn't seem to to find "install bootmanager" in the /[P]roceed/[P]artition help points out that this question will be asked later. But looks like it won't be asked at all if I'm just adding new packages... help! AGL
