You can click on the box next to a user you don't want to see. IGMPv3 will have the ability to specify the sources you want (and the tools will presumably be upgraded to use that interface) so that when you click on a box a prune can get sent. mrouted version 4 will have source-specific prunes to be able to assist this functionality, meaning that the "offender"'s traffic will not even get to you. Given that the MBone tools implement the lightweight open sessions that they do, there are severe security implications for allowing some arbitrary person to prune off a source. Nope, I tried it both ways - with and without HALF_DUPLEX. Did you also make sure to run sfspeaker in the background before you tried your test? One thing I noticed was that soundinit() was trying to open /dev/audio (which points to /dev/audio0 on my system [major 30, minor 4]) with access mode O_RDONLY. When I try a simple `cat < /dev/audio' I get the same error - it seems that only O_WRONLY works as an open mode, but making that change simply results in the problem moving somewhere a little later with things bitching about an invalid file descriptor. Should /dev/audio point to /dev/audio2 for the `gusmax' entry in /dev/MAKEDEV then? Any sound hackers care to comment? P.S. If you are running current: rah.star-gate.com:/pub/snd01041996-2.2-current.tgz If you are running stable: rah.star-gate.com:/pub/snd01041996.tar.gz That version of the sound driver supports birectional operations to the sound devices well at least for the gus cards. At least for the gus max / gus pnp you will just use /dev/audio0 to do all your bidirectional i/o and you are supposed to open the device once for read and write. In other words, if you open /dev/audio0 for reading and then try later on to open /dev/audio0 for writing it will not work. I didn't test it on a single machine - I tested it by sending to a friend's machine and having him hold the phone up to his speakers as I talked! :-) Could you please upload the speak freely binaries you've gotten to work (which should also really be ports/audio material!) to time.cdrom.com and let me know when they're there? I'll test those with my machine, just to make sure we're testing same with same. If they still fail to work then we'll know that our GUSMAX driver is not happy with speak freely! I wanted to find out what the supported video capture cards are, and are expected to be, so I can jack-in a regular video camera. The Vic code indicates that the Matrox Meteor is supported. Is this in the kernel, or slated for 2.2, or ...? I'm at 2.1-RELEASE now. I'd like to build out a laptop which could do MBONE: plug a PCMCIA ethernet card in, a PCMCIA video capture card in and go. How possible is this? Do the laptops' "SoundBlaster compatible" facilities really work for vat? Some laptops? The camera could be swiveled to either point at the user, or away from it. Anyway, this computer was running AIX (with X-windows) and the user (an IBM employee, I think) was showing video from the camera in a window of his display. It all looked pretty cool. It would probably have been straightforward to hook this into the MBone. The portable computer (I hesitate to call it a laptop) was quite heavy (about 10 pounds, I think), and probably very expensive. But in a year or two... Ross.
