As a first step, remove the entries for every device in your kernel config
file that you do not need, and recompile your kernel.

As a second step, make sure that the termination on your hard drive is
active and powered from the drive (not the SCSI bus), use a short cable,
and ensure that termination is turned on with your 2940.
