I have a amd setup here and it was working before, but now I'm getting errors and it isn't mounting properly. The errors are something like this: ===== May 19 10:50:23 zibbi amd[21803]: /net/skeleton: mount: Bad address May 19 10:50:23 zibbi amd[21803]: /net/skeleton/home: mount: Bad address ===== If I manually mount the servers and force nfs v2, it works. Is there some way to force amd to use v2 for some hosts? I have tried the "nfsv2" option in the amd.map file, but it does not seem to help at all. If it matters, the two nfs servers I'm trying to mount is running FreeBSD 2.1.7 and HPUX 9.04. If I do a manual nfs mount without forcing it to nfsv2 it also works. So then I tried it with the old 2.2.1 amd and that also works. So it seems to be something that the new amd do. Accessing a mmap NFS file when the file is deleted from the server will result with following error: May 20 16:02:02 lacy /kernel: vnode_pager_getpages: I/O read error May 20 16:02:02 lacy /kernel: vm_fault: pager input (probably hardware) error, P ID 522 failure I applied the above patch to the lastest 22-releng and it did not fix this problem. I wrote a simple C program to duplicate the problem. It will open and mmap a file, read it, then wait for a key and read it again. So the file can be deleted between keys. BTW, I normally need to wait for 5+ minutes after the file is deleted before I can see the error message. Best regards PS: The NFSV3 diroff memory leak is resolved... thanks again. -------------------------------------------- #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include main(int ac, char **av) { int c; while(ac-- > 1) { ++av; int fdin = open(*av, O_RDONLY); if(fdin < 0) { fprintf(stderr,"Cannot open %s\n", *av); continue; } struct stat sb; if(fstat(fdin, &sb) < 0) { fprintf(stderr,"Cannot stat %s\n", *av); close(fdin); continue; } char * pmap = mmap(0, sb.st_size, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, fdin, 0); if(((int)pmap) < 0) { perror("Cannot map file"); close(fdin); continue; } for(c=0;c>=0;) { write(1, pmap, sb.st_size); while((c=getchar()) >= 0) if(c == '\n') break; extern int errno; if(fstat(fdin, &sb) < 0) fprintf(stderr, "fstat error: %s\n", strerror(errno)); } close(fdin); munmap(pmap, sb.st_size); } } From owner-freebsd-stable Tue May 20 21:18:58 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id VAA16057 for stable-outgoing; Tue, 20 May 1997 21:18:58 -0700 (PDT) Received: from misery.sdf.com (misery.sdf.com [204.244.210.193]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id VAA16051 for ; Tue, 20 May 1997 21:18:54 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost (tom@localhost) by misery.sdf.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with SMTP id VAA00858 for ; Tue, 20 May 1997 21:17:38 -0700 (PDT) Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 21:17:37 -0700 (PDT) From: Tom Samplonius To: freebsd-stable@freebsd.org Subject: Build problem with 2.2-stable Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-stable@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk cc -O -DFREEBSD_AOUT -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1/../../../../contrib/gcc -I/us r/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1/../../../../contrib/gcc/config -DFREEBSD_NATIVE -DDEFAU LT_TARGET_VERSION=\"2.7.2.1\" -DDEFAULT_TARGET_MACHINE=\"i386-unknown-freebsd\" -I/usr/obj/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1/../cc_tools -c /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/c c1/../../../../contrib/gcc/c-convert.c cc -O -DFREEBSD_AOUT -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1/../../../../contrib/gcc -I/us r/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1/../../../../contrib/gcc/config -DFREEBSD_NATIVE -DDEFAU LT_TARGET_VERSION=\"2.7.2.1\" -DDEFAULT_TARGET_MACHINE=\"i386-unknown-freebsd\" -I/usr/obj/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1/../cc_tools -c /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/c c1/../../../../contrib/gcc/c-decl.c make: don't know how to make /usr/inclu. When doing a "make reinstall", it will try to use info-install before it is installed. This is easy to replicated. Delete /usr/bin/info-install, and do a "make reinstall" in /usr/src, and will it complain that info-install does not exist. It appears that installing it not happening in the right order. To: stable@freebsd.org Date: Sat, 24 May 1997 13:01:06 +0100 (BST) Cc: Andrew Wilson X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL24 ME8a] Content-Type: text Sender: owner-stable@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hi, I used cvsup to grab the latest 2.2-STABLE on Friday night, ran 'make world' and almost immediately began seeing problems reading my SCSI disk. The several errors on bootup report as: sd0(ncr0:0:0): MEDIUM ERROR info:62686 asc:11,0 Unrecovered read error, retries 3 While making a DAT backup of the disk 'cd /;tar cvfb /dev/rst0 20 .' The latest kernel reported: assertion "cp" failed: file = "../../pci/ncr.c" line 5542 sd0(ncr0:0:0) COMMAND FAILED (4 28) @f05ca200 And the x server died. A subsequent reboot reported no errors. The error seems to appear erratically. QUESTIONS: 1. is this problem a result of bad software in the kernel? 2. does this mean the NCR controller is toast? 3. does this mean the disk is trashed? 4. any recommendations?
