SoundBlaster: DSP command(0xd0) timeout. IRQ conflict ? SoundBlaster: DSP command(0xd3) timeout. IRQ conflict ? It spits these out one after the other when I do cat /dev/audio > foo and ctrl-c to stop it. Nothing is written to foo. Again, this was with an (probed as, anyway) ESS1868 on yesterday's current with the pcm driver. There is no IRQ conflict. For more details see my previous message on the subject sent to -multimedia. If nobody is working on fleshing out support for this chip, I'm willing to do it provided I can get the programming info and familiarize myself with what I'll need to know to do so. I've never really done anything with device drivers, but I can code and I'm a can-do kinda guy who was looking for a reason to do something like this. Any suggestions as to resources would be welcome. I'm cc'ing to -mobile because this is the chip on my thinkpad 560e and there might be interest or someone else working on it. If it is indeed an ESS1868 as probed, the ESS site says it's a full duplex chip supporting 16-bit audio, so should be worth supporting. -Craig To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mobile" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-mobile Tue Oct 20 09:18:45 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id JAA02518 for freebsd-mobile-outgoing; Tue, 20 Oct 1998 09:18:45 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from beast.toad.net (beast.toad.net [205.197.182.100]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id JAA02508 for ; Tue, 20 Oct 1998 09:18:36 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from josephm@toad.net) Received: from beast.toad.net (josephm@beast.toad.net [205.197.182.100]) by beast.toad.net (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id MAA21701 for ; Tue, 20 Oct 1998 12:18:08 -0400 Date: Tue, 20 Oct 1998 12:18:08 -0400 (EDT) From: Joseph Moran To: freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: In PAO-980913, where did PCIC_IO go? I use FreeBSD on a Gateway Solo 2200, which has a slightly nonstandard PCIC chip -- it's IO address lives at 0xfcfc instead of the (usual?) 0x3e0. Under 2.2.6-RELEASE w/ PAO-980430 this was a simple fix: in the kernel config file, add the line: option "PCIC_IO=0xfcfc" Well, I upgraded to 2.2.7-RELEASE w/ PAO-980913 to get a Linksys 10/100 card working, and I found that PCIC_IO as a variable no longer appears in the code. The closest I've found for an equivalent is IO_PCIC1, but setting that in the config file does nothing. Does this sound familiar to anyone? The patches supplied by Mathias and Nate for FreeBSD v2.2.6 went as far as the cardbus controller being recognised as an O2 Micro device, but that was about it. It will work if someone writes a driver and some application for it (can't imagine that this is already done at the moment). The main problem (in any such case) is that you need the specs and data-sheets for such PCMCIA card, much time and some good design for applications (the question is: what do you want to do later with that device, e.g. what should be able to do from the user-land later). I know a GSM device (Falcon A1) which has a "normal" RS-232 interface and uses AT-style commands for call control and other stuff. You may also use kermit or cu(1) to control such device. I have had some mail exchange with a reseller of it and he was willing to sponsor a test device for some weeks too. I also have the specs for it if someone is willing to spend the time and the call costs for writing nice apps :-)) matthias -- firm: matthias.apitz@sisis.de [voc:+49 89 61308 351, fax: +49 89 61308 188] priv: guru@thias.muc.de WWW: http://www.sisis.de/~guru/ UNIX, Windows95 and WindowsNT -- also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
