I get the same error. I solved the problem by using the vic-port and change

	video_format_ = METEOR_FMT_AUTOMODE;
to
	video_format_ = METEOR_FMT_PAL;
in 
/usr/ports/mbone/vic/work/vic-2.8/grabber-meteor.cc
at line 216 (MeteorGrabber::MeteorGrabber)
