BTW, I have NIC installed. Ppp tries to figure out the MAC address of the interface with the current value of MYADDR. MYADDR defaults to `hostname`. If you've done a ``set ifaddr'' or if `hostname` isn't in your NICs netmask, ppp won't match it. So, ppp should normally find your NIC if you use ``set enddisc'' before ``set ifaddr''. -- Brian Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour ! I've also replaced the planned i4b patches to ppp at ftp://ftp.Awfulhak.org/pub/PPPoISDN/. The new version *should* patch the latest ppp archive cleanly. This means it should now be possible to have a secondary link that comes up and down automatically as required. Next: Some code to implement minimum connect times. I've had some fairly bad luck running this version of ppp against the i4b-00.83.00-beta-300799.tar.gz code on -stable (I've got a Teles S0/16.3) - the 00.82.00 stuff seemed more reliable. I'd appreciate any reports with ppp & 00.83.00 - whether good or bad :-) Cheers. -- Brian Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour ! Exactly what it says: incompatible destination. When an ISDN device makes a call to a remote destination, a set of parameters is exchanged describing more or less exactly, what type of connection should take place on the B-channel once a connection is established. In case the two endpoints have a different idea about that, you get this message. > Also, then I trying to call from DialIn I see lot of errors: > > - Cut - > Aug 3 23:20:38 dialin isdnd[181]: DBG F_DIAL: local dial out request > Aug 3 23:20:38 dialin isdnd[181]: DBG select_first_dialno: only one no, no = 00078312319018 > Aug 3 23:20:38 dialin isdnd[181]: CHD 00002 NSTL rate 60 sec/unit (unitlen unknown) > Aug 3 23:20:38 dialin isdnd[181]: CHD 00002 NSTL dialing out from 329xxxxxxx to 00078058312319018 > Aug 3 23:20:39 dialin isdnd[181]: DBG find_by_device_for_dialout: entry 0, cdid in use > Aug 3 23:20:54 dialin isdnd[181]: WRN msg_disconnect_ind: cdid not found > Aug 3 23:20:54 dialin isdnd[181]: CHD 00002 NSTL outgoing call disconnected (remote) > Aug 3 23:20:54 dialin isdnd[181]: CHD 00002 NSTL cause 7: layer 1 error / persistent deactivation (I4B) > - Cut - > > And much more in kernel log: > > - Cut - > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-timer3_expired: state = F4 Awaiting Signal > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-isic_recover: HSCX B: ISTA = 0x0 > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-isic_recover: ISAC: ISTA = 0x0 > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-isic_recover: HSCX B: IMASK = 0xff > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-isic_recover: HSCX A: IMASK = 0xf8 > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-isic_recover: ISAC: IMASK = 0x2a > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L2-i4b_T202_timeout: unit 0, N202 = 3 > Aug 3 23:20:40 dialin /kernel: i4b-L1-ph_data_req: still in state F3! This will produce a *large* amount of kernel trace which should be helpful in pinpointing the problem. The trace output should land in /var/log/messages. Something like this will do the trick: for i in 1 2 3 4 do isdndebug -l $i -s 0x3fff done A similar loop with 0 instead of 0x3fff will turn the trace off. Make certain that your /etc/syslog.conf is set up correctly. If you can't figure out what all the gory trace means you send me your messages file (only the relevant stuff!!) and I'll try to help. I've waded through lots of this stuff in the past. --- Gary Jennejohn Home - garyj@muc.de Work - garyj@fkr.dec.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Sat Aug 7 13: 0:19 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from mail.unlisys.net (mail.unlisys.net [195.21.255.252]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 64F0E14C9B for ; Sat, 7 Aug 1999 13:00:08 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from mscu.snafu.de!root@unlisys.net) Received: by mail.unlisys.net (Smail3.2.0.96inx) id ; Sat, 7 Aug 1999 21:59:01 +0200 (MET DST) Received: (from root@localhost) by mscu.snafu.de (8.9.3/8.9.2) id VAA02353; Sat, 7 Aug 1999 21:49:51 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from root) Message-ID: X-Mailer: XFMail 1.3 [p0] on FreeBSD X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <199908042111.XAA94829@peedub.muc.de> Date: Sat, 07 Aug 1999 21:49:51 +0200 (CEST) Reply-To: Matthias Schuendehuette Organization: Private UUCP site running FreeBSD From: Matthias Schuendehuette To: Gary Jennejohn Subject: Re: Upgrade FreeBSD 3.1 to i4b 0.83: spppcontrol Invalid argumen Cc: freebsd-isdn , Ben Bucksch Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org On 04-Aug-99 Gary Jennejohn wrote: >>spppcontrol: SIOCGIFGENERIC(SPPPIOGDEFS): Invalid argument >> > > It should be defined in /sys/net/if_sppp.h.
